An art deco masterpiece, Belmond Copacabana Palace is the crown jewel on the world's most iconic beach. Since its doors swung open in 1923, this landmark hotel has entertained the rich and the famous. A hive of activity, this is the spot to mix with Brazil’s elite over caipirinhas. What’s more, it’s the best seat in the house for Rio’s theatrical highlights: the spirited spring carnival and firework-flecked new year.

Wonderful hotel with a lot of history, Clearly the best hotel in Rio on a beautiful beach and lives up to all their excellent reviews The food and service were outstanding. We had an Deluxe Ocean front room with great views. We took the hotel tour which gives a great perspective on their history.

Location is superb. Well appointed junior suite. Breakfast selection was amazing; excellent selection of pastries. Service perhaps could be sharper at breakfast but that is being picky. The spa was being renovated but we had a massage in the temporary location. Excellent massage and atmosphere. Concierge organised a highlights of Rio tour - we really enjoyed it, had an excellent guide. We had a good meal at Restaurant Mee but were disappointed that Cipriani and the bar were closed as they were being renovated. Slightly surprised that there is no Brazilian restaurant. Would definitively recommend the hotel and return.

From the reception, the whole team — especially Ricardo Vieira, at Pérgola, Santos and Alexandre, along with the director himself, Mr. Luíses — an amazing team, very warm and familiar.

This hotel is the address where everyone stays at and the clientele and staff reflects that. For such a hustle and bustle city like Rio, this hotel provides rare peace and serenity and it provides the best access to the copacabana beach. The facilitates are sufficient for the caliber of hotel and the only reason this hotel doesn't get a five star rating is that some of the rooms are still in need of a renovation though the hotel has informed me they are undergoing that process so hopefully it will be five stars when you stay there. Nevertheless, you should stay here if in Rio.
