Reviews for Caesar Park Rio De Janeiro Ipanema
It's a bit of a bygone era in the US when the staff knew your name as you boarded the elevator. Not so at the Sofitel on Ipanema beach. The staff was great, very "old world" with all the modern requirements. The views were amazing, the food was great, and the prices were reasonable. I think some areas of the hotel could use a refresh, and I would have given it a 5. Vinicius the concierge was great. Thank you for a nice vacation. I hope to return soon.

This hotel has recently suffered a change in flags, from Caesar Park to Sofitel. Eventhough most of the hotel already feels like a Sofitel, and an upscale one, there are still some areas in need of LOVE. We arrived at 1am and we couldn't tell whether this was the Sofitel Ipanema or not as this was a plain white building that looked under renovation and there weren't any signs. We even parked at the entrance and stayed in the car for a while reconfirming the address and the two gentlemen that were inside the doors didn't even come out. When you walk into the lobby the feeling is different... here it feels like a 5* hotel. A beautiful modern but cozy lobby with lots of lounge areas, beautiful flower arrangements and smell. We booked a Superior Room, it's their second category, and the room felt a bit tired in respect to the furniture. It was clean, spacious, the bed was very comfy, with complimentary water and with Lavin bath amenities but the table lamps were crooked the desk was scratched and the majority of the furniture showed wear and tear signs. Nothing major but details that can easily be fixed and would make a difference. I was told by the front desk that the ocean front rooms have been renovated so book these ones if this would be an issue for you. The restaurant is really nice and has an amazing beach front view of Ipanema Beach. The breakfast is good and there are many choices. The pool on the 23rd floor is beautiful with amazing views of the beach stretch and there is a very nice lounge opened until 12am. We did a couples massage and even though we've had better massages, the therapists and the treatment room were very nice. The highlights of this hotel are... 1. Location - can't be better 2. Staff - everyone from the front desk (Lucas), the concierge (Estefania & Vinicius), restaurant hostess (Sabrina) and restaurant waiter (Marcio) were true Service Ambassadors! Overall, I think this property is a great value - price/quality/location and I would stay here again and highly recommend!

Sept 2017 4-night stay in a JUNIOR SUITE #1405. Corner suite with direct ocean views and side views (AMAZING). This property was chosen after tedious research (lots of time spent on Tripadvisor) and after our Brazilian friends recommended Ipanema/Leblon area over Copacobana area ("you can easily go to the fun in Copacobana but retreat to the luxury & safety/serenity of Ipanema" they said). Upon arrival we were surprised by the fact that the hotel is undergoing construction (there was no mention of this anywhere on the website)-exterior face lift and front facade improvements in the arrival area out front. This is a "Luxury" hotel and there are small deficiencies in the facility due to age-it seems they are addressing these issues and she will be back to 5 stars soon! The lobby is modern and sleek but still warm and welcoming. There's a small snack bar in the lobby. H.Stern has a "mini boutique" also to encourage you to visit the factory that is just a few blocks away (or in case you need to purchase a last minute anniversary gift). Reception: the staff was professional and friendly (but not too friendly) and thankfully proficient in English since our Portuguese is totally lacking. Each staff member recognized us by name at all times (I observed them welcoming back repeat guests by name as they approached the desk while checking in). Reception is able to make small currency exchanges since this is labeled as an international lodging option. Several security members (a.k.a. guys in suits with ear pieces) are stationed at the entrance, across from the desk, and close to desk. If you're not supposed to be there they will make sure you exit (we felt SAFE at all times on property). First impression of the room: WOW! The view was EXCEPTIONAL. The bed was a KING instead of a queen as listed on the hotel website and super comfy! The closet was small due to one side is occupied by built in drawer storage and it has a small safe large enough for an iPad but not a computer. Robes, slippers, and Ipanema brand flip flops were supplied for guests use. Also included was a Nespresso machine (we brought our own pods thanks to Tripadvisor reviews since they are expensive in the room). Electrical outlets-US appliances worked fine since multiple outlet types were available (didn't have to use our converters/adapters). WiFi included and worked VERY well!. Bathroom-separate shower and tub, small sink/vanity area, and toilet plus bidet. The water pressure was amazing. Lanvin toiletries were supplied by the hotel. Note: the bath water is sometimes a bit, well, brown and off putting. Called downstairs to ask if there was a problem with the water and the response was that they were changing the water/working on the tanks (?) and to let it run. After about three minutes it was clear again. Pool area and 23 Ocean Lounge: The pool is small but lovely. This is not the hotel for you if you're looking for a party pool and day-long sun. If you are looking for a place to lounge, read a book or magazine, and have luxurious cocktails while escaping direct sun pick here. There are only 6 pairs of loungers poolside but other seating options including outdoor dining tables for 23 Ocean Lounge. We enjoyed lunch here twice-expect "hotel prices." Service was exceptional and evening cocktails while watching the sunset A+. BEACH-The promo video in the room shows a lovely lady having a quiet day on Ipanema Beach reading her iPad loaded with the complementary e-magazines Sofitel provides guests. Um...the beach is anything but serene and was quite busy (this is the off-season) but we loved it anyway! Sofitel offers guests beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas across the street on the beach. Beach attendants wearing Sofitel shirts will arrange your chairs however you choose, offer you towels, and an umbrella. Beach "vendors" come by often to sell you their wares (sunscreen, swimsuits, drinks/snacks, jewelry, etc) but the attendants did a wonderful job making sure the vendors don't stay in one spot too long/harass guests (I assume there is some unspoken agreement). We never felt unsafe or "bothered" and actually enjoyed watching the vendors. AIRPORT-The domestic airport SDU was a 30 minute car ride away (14km/9 miles) arriving at 5pm on a Saturday. Our trip to the international airport GIG took about an 1 1/2 hrs (it's only 24 km/15 miles and we departed hotel at 5:30 pm rush hour) so plan accordingly if you have a late night international flight.

Don't book a room with a view because you won't be able to see it out the window because of the condensation and the dirt. Room service was okay. Beach service was friendly. Spa service was the absolutely dreadful. Rudest woman ever... Overall I wouldn't stay here again.

Great hotel with lovely rooms - definitely feels posh and polished, especially in the roofdeck. Kudos to the generous and scenic gym on the roof as well. Wonderful front desk staff especially Walter (who showed us two rooms since it was our first time in Rio) and Lucas, super friendly and welcoming. Also, thanks to the Concierge, I think her name was Stephanie that did a nice job helping us with tix to Corcovado / Christ the Redeemer. And finally to Mix -- a great bellhop, friendly and great service with a smile. Suggestions: -include a coffeemaker in the room; in a 4+ starts property, a small amenity that's appreciated especially when breakfast is on the expensive side. -housekeeping was a bit on the late side a few nights. Not a huge deal but surprised to come back after 5 and room was still waiting for service. Thanks again to all and hope to see all the staff again soon. Maybe Carnaval!
