Reviews for Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico

Great Hotel, but Minor Adjustments Needed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

We had a great time at the Grand Reserve. We were upgraded to a Villa for my birthday, which was a very pleasant surprise. Upon checking in, we were given a map of the property and an overview of restaurants, amenities, etc which was a nice touch since the property is quite extensive. We had excellent service at both restaurants we chose to dine in, Nori & Prime. Our waiters at both were standouts! Anthony & Mervin, thank you for making our nights incredibly special. My one complaint is that there is a bar for the Villas pool that doesn’t appear to ever be open. This means you have to walk over to the larger pool for drinks or food. La Mina Bar did open one day of our stay, but I think it was because the resort was so busy, they had people overflowing to the villa pool. Because of this, we ended up at the main pool more often than not. We also had a great experience there, but it would’ve been nice to be able to have drinks and food closer to the room. Hernan was our stand out waiter one of the days and made sure we were taken care of, even checking with us in the pool to see if we wanted another drink. All in all, a great experience with only a minor bump here or there. We are excited to return with our kids soon!

Great breakfast and staff were great, but everything was too far you had to move in the golf cars. However, you can do the walking distance but you gonna do a workout

Beautiful Property to avoid

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

7 or 8 years ago, when doing college tours with my daughter, I booked a hotel blind through Expedia in LA. Upon arrival, it appeared to be a meth hotel and we turned the key in as soon as we looked at the room, without even asking for a refund. That was my worst hotel experience. Until now. The Hyatt is a beautiful property and the staff was not exceptional but above average. The rooms were very dated and not at all in line with a Hyatt property. The thing that made this stay excruciating, however, was the conventions. When we arrived, Hyundai was having a (what I thought at the moment was loud) convention next to the swimming pool. Cars were parked on the grass. It was not a welcoming experience. However, it was nothing compared to the following morning when we were awoken by an air horn at 8am, followed by another every few minutes as a CrossFit competition was being held on the grounds. The air horn was constant until after 7pm, the grounds were filled with tents selling food and CrossFit clothing - it was a madhouse. I picked the Hyatt because it was an hour away from San Jose and I wanted a peaceful, restful experience in a premier location and facility. Instead, I got meth house crazy. I would not have accepted money to stay there in hindsight, much less paid money. What a horrible experience.
