The resort was beautiful and grounds well kept. Pool was amazing and huge. On the ocean and could walk out into crystal clear water. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We opted not to do the all inclusive and really wished we had of since the dinning options were a bit pricey.

My wife and i came for our 1st anniversary, very beautiful place .. here is your pre trip BLUEPRINT 1. We reserved a red level ocean view during the booking process and once we arrived they tried to give us a garden view suite. We were accommodated with no issues after we showed our confirmation receipt. (Keep your confrmn email close) . The RED LEVEL CHECK IN CLERK WAS A LITTLE STAND OFFISH AS IF SHE WAS WORKING AT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. overall staff was pretty cool 2. They charge your card a $100 (hold) a day but will release at the end of your stay 3. ITS NEAR A RAINFOREST .... ITS GONNA RAIN .. HARD .. off and on showers (other places may be shining bright take a drive) 4. Reason we could not give it 4 stars. BEACHES ARE NOT MADE FOR SWIMMING. You pay for a beachfront yet still have to drive to another beach for the beach experience 5. Parking is a separate charge, non affiliates with the resort (pay for each day) RENTAL CAR IS VERY MUCH SO RECOMMENDED 6. Long (beautiful) walks to the suites from the front desk BUT THEY OFFER 24HR GOLF CART RIDES TO AND FROM THE ROOMS 7. Rooms are not modern but has a nice feel. We stayed RED LEVEL and it was VERY VERY CLEAN. our maid CARMEN was the absolute best. We'd request her building EVERY TIME 8. The resort restaurants are way over priced and the food will NOT blow your mind. THE COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST WAS COOL THOUGH. 9. NOW WITH ALL THAT, HERE'S HOW TO MAKE YOUR STAY AMAZING!!!!!! RENT A CAR .... RENT A CAR ... RENT A CAR .... CONVERTIBLE IF YOU'RE ABLE (COUPLES) 10. The food in local areas are AMAZING. luquillo has some good restaurants. El turruno if you want grouper nuggets Ummmmmmm. 11. YOU MUST MUST MUST DRIVE TO THE TOP OF THE RAINFOREST (EL YUNQUE) AND TAKE A DIP IN THE WATERFAL (25 min walk through a t trail after parking) but WORTH IT 12. DRIVE DOWN TO SAN JUAN .. more food, shopping, bars, museums, casinos, souvenirs, walking ,nightlife etc. etc. 13. Biobay tours 14. Explore the island HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AND YOUR STAY ...!! ENJOY YOUR VACATION .. THE GAMBLES

We travel a lot and booked three rooms over two different buildings for 11 days so I think we have a reasonable review.... Positives: Incredible views. Being able to see the mountains and ocean from the pool - amazing. Only place I've ever seen views like this were at a $500 a night resort in Nevis. Amazing. Food was fantastic - outstanding Puerto Rican cuisine - at the restaurants but it's expensive. Expect $40 a head or more. Staff was polite and helpful albeit a little slow. Did I mention the pool area is amazing? Swim up pool bar. Private beach was nice. Non motorized sports were a plus but came with a $25 charge. The fitness center was really great: much better than most hotels I've stayed at. When you see the resort you think - THIS is the Caribbean! GREAT location. 45 mins from old San Juan, the marina and closer to Yonque. Super quaint restaurants and kiosks within 15 min drive. Negatives: It's isolated so you have to rent a car unless you never leave the resort. $17 per day parking fee is absurd and their parking card system is a pain. Service in general is polite but slow. Drinks and food are very expensive. $5 for a can of beer, $10-15 mixed drinks in 12 oz solo cups (pool bar). The resort is huge so expect to walk. They have golf carts but they're hard to get. Check in line is an hour wait guaranteed. You will spend more time eating away from the resort than in it. Coffee at the market is tolerable but Starbucks expensive. Rooms: The rooms are not awesome. We lost power - phones never came back and some of the lights. Two days. The fridge never worked and we did report it. The rooms are damp 24x7. It was not awesome to walk in and find everything "wet". Clothes. Bed sheets. Pillows. Very damp. They shut off your AC And fans when you leave the room. Impossible to game the system to keep on. We tried everything. Musty smell. The beds are hard as a rock. I mean : daily back pain, numb shoulders, toss and turn all night hard. They provided "bed softeners" which were no better. We slept on those plus the comforters and the beds were slightly softer than the tile floors. The only other complaint on the room is the service. Maids don't wash the floors daily which is gross. We got towels but which ones and how many were a daily adventure. Tons of lotion left but never any body gel. Oddities. Travelers tips - sign up for their rewards program and prepay on their website for a 20% discount. ALWAYS express checkout with an envelope. Ask for one. Call the front desk and report everything. If it doesn't work, call it in. If you need more of something then call and ask. Get a second floor room. The vaulted ceilings help with the heat and dampness. Bring your own snacks and drinks. You can't have a cooler but get a water bottle and mix in whatever. I've had much worse but did expect much better. The beds and damp rooms were big drawbacks but the resort and location are super!

As i landed in the island for the first time i noticed the humid climate and that for the first time in many years a power outage in the entire island. Somehow i managed to get my car rental and headed to my hotel (30 min away east) of which was one of a few that had a generator. This hotel is great especially if you want to experience the island as i planned to have daily mini adventures in PR. The hotel is close to El Junque national park and other attractions. A 30min drive to Old San Juan which I did practically daily. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The place was very hospitable and glad that they one of the few hotels that has a generator.
