We just returned from the most relaxing 7 days at Belmond Maroma. The weather and location were perfect it is also so easy to get to from the airport. The hotel arranged for a airport pickup which I highly recommend. Upon arrival you are greeted with a Maroma margarita which was the best margarita I have ever had! The room was immaculate and housekeeping did a great job. I was very surprised that such a high end resort had such low end hair dryers, they were pretty awful I think they could offer a much better quality. Be advised that the rooms do not have televisions. I can not say enough great things about all the staff - they are super friendly, eager to please, everyone spoke english. I have never stay at a property that had such an amazing staff through out the entire property. The biggest miss for us was the food based and the prices. The prices are not equal to the food, we were surprised that the food was not better, it wasn't bad, just very overpriced for what it was. You should also be advised that there is no night life if that is important to you. You would probably need to go to Playa Carmen for that which is about 20 minutes away. We did not try the spa which looked gorgeous because the weather was so spectacular we didn't want to be inside but I am sure the treatments are amazing. There is beach yoga in the morning, bike ride thru the jungle, beach bikes, lots of water sports. The resort is family friendly and has an adult only section which would have been nice since we were a couple but the families we met were lovely. The only reason we might not return would be the food. We also met several guests that had been to the resort multiple times so that speaks volumes!

My family and I are from Hong Kong (China) and we stayed at the Belmond for 5 days. Every morning my sister and I would wake up to the sound of waves and would throw open the blinds to catch the sunrise. It is a pretty magical place. Tea service is at 7 in the morning, so we would enjoy a cup of hot cocoa before heading out to breakfast. The food in the Belmond is excellent, especially breakfast, with a variety of food to choose from. Some of them are traditional Mexican cuisine, while you also get "international" choices such as English breakfast/pancakes and waffles. For lunch/dinner you get to choose between the two restaurants in the resort, which offers international and Mexican cuisine. We usually skipped lunch because we were either not in the resort or were too full from breakfast. If you would prefer some wine/alcohol to go with dinner, please ask for Charlie, the house Sommelier. He gives the best recommendations! However, the best thing about the Belmond by far is the service and the people -hhey are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We simply went to hospitality and all the activities of the week were arranged for us. Very convenient and efficient. This is one of the best resorts we've been in and we would definitely come and stay again!

We just returned from our third visit to Maroma. We are not inclined to visit the same place again and again...but this place is just that good.* Each visit has been better than the last. It's clear that Belmond invests in the property. For example, our mattress on this stay was very comfortable (which was not the case on our first visit before Belmond operated it). The food has improved a lot; we understand that Belmond brought in a new chef two years ago. Breakfast is to die for; it is so refreshing to have a "complementary" breakfast where you order off a menu versus having to serve yourself at a buffet. The service is impeccable without being pretentious or over-bearing; the people who work at this property are so genuine and nice and are so enjoyable to talk with and be around. The spa is world class. The pools are amazing and so is the beach and beach furniture. The property itself is gorgeous; it feels intimate and authentic. We have stayed in both the garden view and ocean view rooms, and both are lovely (we now are committed to the ocean view rooms, but if you are inclined to save a bit of money so you can have more mezcal, you will be very happy in the garden room). We cannot wait to return! *To provide a bit of context, we have enjoyed tropical vacations at Cap Juluca on Anguilla, a WIMCO villa on St. Barts, Sugar Beach on St. Lucia, and Hotel Esencia in Tulum.

We had a beautiful, functional room on the beach but the food and drinks are terribly expensive. You have no option for an inexpensive meal. After travelling all through Mexico and eating in the best restaurants this was easily double anything we had spent. The staff are fantastic and everything is first rate. Lots of cots, many pools although only 2 are heated. There was a problem with seaweed while we were there but I understand many areas in Mexico and the States has this problem.

We stayed in a room with a rooftop plunge pool and loved the hospitality and service here! There arent many plunge pool rooms here, which is a favorite aspect of ours, but the entire experience of the resort is very oceanfront. Carmen in the spa blew my mind and all the employees were so great to us and friendly.
