This was the second time we have been to Maroma - it's magical! The first time we enjoyed several outings (Tulum, Playa del carmen) but this time we decided to stay on the resort. There was still plenty to do besides just lying on the pristine beach and enjoying Maroma margaritas! The staff are all so friendly - there were several familiar faces from our last stay. Freddy and Manuel are favorites at the bar, Jhony took such good care of us on the beach all day, Moises at the restaurant, Barbara and Estela at the spa, and Ostiel who greeted us so warmly when we arrived. I'm hoping we can figure out how to make this an annual get away. I can't think of a lovelier, more relaxing place to vacation. Highly recommend it!

We recently returned from spending 6 amazing days at the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa. What an amazing place this is. This resort was over the top - exceeded our expectations! We cannot say enough about how beautiful the grounds are, how gorgeous our room was, how stunning the ocean views are and how lovely the beach is. From the moment we arrived we felt as if we were in another world -- away from everything. It is very peaceful and quiet. The staff is incredible -- absolutely every person we interacted with throughout our stay was kind, thoughtful and professional. We had some favorites -- Paulina who works on the beach is a real gem, Charlie in the El Sol Restaurant was fabulous, and Oziel and Deborah in hospitality were fantastic. We spent two afternoons in the Spa which we highly recommend -- it is gorgeous and the staff is wonderful, our massages were amazing. We purchased the dining package which was a great decision because we took full advantage of it and enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the beach each day as well as a beautiful dinner at El Sol each evening. The food was always very delicious! We are already planning our next trip to Belmond Maroma for next summer. Counting the days until we are able to return to this absolutely perfect place!

The service says it all with Belmond Maroma. The beach is beautiful, the grounds are tranquil, and the service impeccable. We will absolutely be coming back. The only area of improvement would be the food. The mexican fare is great. The rest is average for the price. We found ourselves going into Playa Del Carmen on three occasions for better food.

We just returned from a seven night stay at the Belmond Maroma to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We went with our three kids ages 16, 13, and 10, and met up with good friends and their family celebrating a 50th birthday. This was our second time there, previous stay in 2015. I can't say enough about how great this place is, and doubt I'll do it justice in a review like this, but will try. The best way to think about a stay at the Belmond Maroma is if you visited a very wealthy friend who owned a beautiful hacienda wedged between white sands/turquoise water and jungle. There is a luxurious but very home-like atmosphere. The service is exemplary; friendly, kind, anticipatory, but never stuffy or overbearing. With a longer stay you will get to know the staff on a first name basis, and they will get to know you. How the Belmond is able to find such sweet, friendly, and kind people is remarkable. It's hard to mention specific names because everyone is wonderful, but we were so well taken care of by Tia Dahlia, Moses, and Fernando at breakfast, Sergio on the beach, Raul at dinner, and Freddy at his namesake bar. After seven days it was extremely hard to leave, in part because it was like having to say goodbye to family. We've never stayed anywhere else that was able to accomplish this sense of family between guests and staff. The rooms are beautiful; it's necessary to come in understanding the history of the resort and that everything there is handmade, so an imperfection here or there is to be expected, and part of the charm. The grounds are a tropical dream of native plants and jungle. Animal sightings are not infrequent. A walk along the lighted pathways after dinner is not to be missed! Another must is getting up early at least once to see the amazing sunrise. The food was exceptionally good. By far the best breakfast I've ever enjoyed at a resort. Lunch and dinners were always exceptional. There's really no need to take a cab into Playa for fares are confiscatory and when added to the cost of dining out, one might as well stay put and eat beachfront at the resort. Do NOT miss the Friday night barbecue! And if you have an opportunity/interest, I highly recommend a cooking class. My wife and daughter took a class with sous chef Alberto and the food was amazing. She left with several recipes which are easy to make here back in the States. The beach gets the award for the best sand I've ever set foot on, truly like powdered sugar. The water and shoreline can sometimes have a problem with seaweed, which was an issue at our visit two years ago, but four out of our seven days this stay the water was like a Corona commercial, and the other days weren't too bad. The resort does a fantastic job cleaning it up in the early am and throughout the day. Definitely take advantage of the on site snorkel/dive center. Very friendly staff, beautiful reef, plenty of fish, and even saw a turtle on one trip. I'm not a spa fan, but my wife and I did a couples' hot stone/ relaxation massage and it was the best massage I've ever had. Ask for Kenya. Not many cons here...It's super humid once you get back past the shoreline, seaweed can occasionally muck up the water, the mosquitoes are definitely vicious on the bike tour, and be aware that everything here costs 31% more than the stated price, with tax and service added on. We've been blessed to have traveled as a family to many great places, i.e. Four Seasons, One and Only....I think this is one of the top two or three, if not the best, place we've every stayed. Thanks to everyone at the Belmond for such a great week! We can't wait to come back!
