Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa

I spent 8 nights at Belmond Maroma, recently renovated under LVMH (2023–24). This was my first time in Maroma, though I’ve stayed at other Belmond properties and visited Mexico many times. I met Executive Assistant Manager Belarmino Gonzalez several times; despite managing a full resort, he always made time to check in and have a lovely chat. His attentiveness clearly sets the tone for the staff. Breakfast is excellent and à la carte. Freshly made empanadas, especially the chorizo and queso, were a highlight. I met the pastry chef, who prepares daily baked selections delivered to the table. Service from Erik, Ricardo, Armando, and Maria was consistently efficient and warm, and breakfast manager Hugo was especially welcoming and attentive. Dinner at Casa Mayor (Arturo and Oswaldo) and Bambuco (Daniela) was equally enjoyable. Housekeeping was exceptional. Thoughtful touches like hanging wet clothes to dry and cleaning sandy shoes stood out. My ocean-facing room was beautiful, and my butlers, Emmanuel and Carlos, were outstanding. Emmanuel’s calm, soft manner immediately put you at ease. The team also surprised me with a birthday cake and thoughtful treats, including a book on Mérida, where Belmond will soon open a new property. Activities were well curated, including an engaging tequila tasting with a knowledgeable bartender, and daily jungle yoga with excellent instructors Katia, Jessica, and Adri. Although sargassum season arrived early this year, Belmonds location in Maroma bay limits accumulatio somewhat, and the hotel actively maintains the beach. Poolside service from Gibran, Jorge, and Onesimo was attentive throughout the day, including handling towels, drinks, skincare, snacks, and shade adjustments seamlessly. I ended most days at the spa, where Laura always brought me a refreshing honey lemonade. Bliss! A wonderful birthday stay, and I look forward to returning.

We leave in Miami and recently stayed at Maroma Hotel in Riviera Maya. We flew into Cancun. the resort is a short 40min ride from the airport. The stay was simply wonderful! From check-in to check-out, everything was impeccable and full of special moments ✨ The arrival ceremony with copal and margaritas already set the tone for the experience—very authentic and welcoming—and Omar, as our butler, made all the difference, always attentive and available. We also loved the coffee left at our door every morning at 7:30—a simple touch that made a big difference in our daily routine. And breakfast, featuring a different coffee each day from a distinct region of Mexico, was always a delicious surprise and a very special detail. The drinks by the pool and at the beach were incredible, always well-crafted and perfectly suited to the atmosphere, and the spa treatments were truly fantastic—one of the highlights of the trip. The visit to the jungle, with the explanations about the local fauna and flora, was something very special, unexpected, and it brought an even deeper connection to the place. Bambuco and Woodend were, without a doubt, the standout highlights—both in terms of quality and the overall experience. The drinks and food were sensational, everything executed to perfection. It was great to see how Mayan traditions combined with Mexican hospitality are present throughout the entire journey.

We recently had the privilege of staying at Maroma, and it surpassed every expectation. From the moment we arrived, welcomed with a copal cleansing ritual and a margarita crafted with rare melipona honey, it was clear this was no ordinary resort. What sets Maroma apart is the extraordinary attentiveness of its people. Our guides, both named Omar, made us feel genuinely looked after throughout our stay. Elena at the Spa brought real intention to every treatment. At Bambuco, Jorge, Rosario, and Denny created a dining experience that felt both effortless and memorable. Eduardo at Woodend and the entire crew at Freddy's Bar, along with the pool and lounge staff, each contributed to an atmosphere where nothing felt accidental and nothing felt forced. This is a place where the details are not just noticed, but obsessed over. The result is a stay that feels deeply personal rather than polished for the masses. It's the kind of resort that earns not just your admiration, but your loyalty. We will absolutely be back!

This was my second visit to the Belmond Maroma Riviera Maya. On my first stay I was traveling with my husband, and we enjoyed it so much that I wanted to return with friends. Our first visit was within a year of major renovations at this property, when you might expect everything to be fresh and the staff to be extra well trained. I can affirm that a full year later, the quality of this hotel and the level of service remains exceptional. The setting is stunning, the rooms are well designed and very well maintained, and the staff provides just the right level of service - a personalized touch without it feeling overbearing. The amenities offered mean a fun surprise is never more than an hour away. And this proved a great location for an easy and relaxing friends getaway. Even with a wedding and related events on the property during our visit, nothing was ever fully closed or crowded, and the soundproofing of the rooms is exceptional. Absolutely recommend this property based on my experience and certainly plan to return.

The facilities are beautiful and perfectly maintained. The staff is great. They are friendly and accommodating It’s simply wonderful.
