We had a beautiful, functional room on the beach but the food and drinks are terribly expensive. You have no option for an inexpensive meal. After travelling all through Mexico and eating in the best restaurants this was easily double anything we had spent. The staff are fantastic and everything is first rate. Lots of cots, many pools although only 2 are heated. There was a problem with seaweed while we were there but I understand many areas in Mexico and the States has this problem.

We stayed in a room with a rooftop plunge pool and loved the hospitality and service here! There arent many plunge pool rooms here, which is a favorite aspect of ours, but the entire experience of the resort is very oceanfront. Carmen in the spa blew my mind and all the employees were so great to us and friendly.

If you are looking for an intimate, beautiful, perfectly designed resort with beautiful views everywhere, outstanding food and service, and long swimmable beach with gorgeous sunrises over the ocean, this is the spot for you. We would change nothing about our experience at the Belmond Maroma.

Belmond Maroma is a special spot in the universe. The drive through the jungle to the beach brings you to a magnificent setting along the water. The minute they welcome you, you realize this is a beyond extraordinary place. The hotel rooms are each set in a special environment. The beach has beds and wonderful palapas for shade and naps. We have had wonderful rooms with outdoor showers which is perfection! We have visited the hotel about 6 times, but we are by no means long time guests! There are people who come back 20+ times! The food is wonderful, they have a very special woman named Tia who makes breakfast tortilla's in the Mayan style. Not to be missed. This is a great destination from the East Coast since it is so easy to get there. It is a privilege to be able to experience Belmond Maroma. We are all counting the days to return.

The positives are the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is excellent, the coffee is strong enough and they eggs are prepared well The jewel of the resort is Dalia, who offers every guest her hand made Quesadillas and serves them on a platter of love. The juices were fresh squeezed every day. Menus for dinner varied and they are flexible with bringing food from the other restaurant. The beach service is nice and they bring different treats while you sit there as well as complimentary water.. The negatives range from mild annoyances to ...... Aside from the fact that you feel like you are being nickel and dimed constantly the value factor is quite low.. I feel that the pricing of the rooms is not very equitable with the quality of the room.. The pricing is more an exclusivity price and they really dont deliver. Service in the Spa and restaurant tend to peter out as the time to leave approaches. The door locks are the types of locks that require people to slam the door even at 630 am and late at night when others are trying to get the last few minutes. Of course it doesnt help that there are many rude people who dont care that someone else may hear the noise. They bring coffee and leave it outside the room but by the time you go out to get it the black birds have raided the tray for the sugar packets. The beach along the Riviera Maya is being invaded by Sagasso a form of sea weed that comes in thick and covers you if you are able to go in the water.. I have officially removed all beach resorts on the riviera Maya from my Mexico to go list. There is also the nondescipt feeling that the resort gives off, The "vibes" that are a subliminal turnoff that I find impossible to describe other than I needed to give the resort a second chance and they fall short of expectations.
