We just returned from our 5 day stay as a family of four from this truly spectacular hotel. The Belmond Maroma is a luxe, elegant paradise. The resort is small and feels intimate and upscale. The grounds are an incredible jungle paradise. At night, your breath is taken away from the beauty of the 400 + candles lighting the outdoor pathways to the main building and restaurants. The beautiful lights in the trees and blue lights in the sidewalk were spectacular. I have never seen anything like this! Meals were leisurely paced. The servers were attentive without being intrusive. Food was fresh, well prepared and elegant. Presentation was perfect. Dinners were accompanied by music at night: guitar trio, flute player or guitarist that just made the atmosphere outstanding. The talcum power, white sugar beach truly looks like the photos. The turquoise water was warm; the surf is calm. The only annoyance was the seaweed washing up on the beach--it would have been more ideal if they could clean up the entire beach before 11am. A trivial annoyance. There were plenty of beach beds and spots available and there was no need to race for lounges in the morning. Kids loved the small snacks throughout the day. The pool proportions accentuated the buildings. Instead of sprawling pool complexes, the pools were large enough to provide a fun time. My kids loved the shapes of the pools, iguanas and coati running around, and Adalita (the parrot) by the pool as well. You felt like you were in an exotic locale (instead of swimming in a pool that could be found in any hotel in the states). The room was perfect: we stayed in a one bedroom beachfront suite with a plunge pool, and small hut with a hammock on the rooftop. We enjoyed waking up watching the sunrise sipping hot chocolate and coffee every morning there. The room itself is well appointed, incredibly clean and beautiful. You felt like you were staying in Mexico with the ceramic tiles, marble stone floors, iron furniture, beautiful wood furniture. (Many times with these 5 star resorts, the hotel is pretty generic. You could transplant that hotel to the States: you could be in Florida!) The Belmond Maroma is authentic: someone said it better: a rich friend's Hacienda on the beach! We enjoyed the jet skis one day and a snorkeling trip another. Jose in the watersports hut was hysterically funny. He made my kids feel at ease and even convinced my shy, 10yr old daughter to try scuba in the pool. We will try to scuba with him in the future. There was a game hut available for my kids, equipped with plenty of board games, water soakers, bikes, boogie boards, ping pong table, etc. They did have activities for the kids in the day: piñata party, water balloon game--but our kids wanted to hang out with us so we didn't really utilize them so much. But it is available for families. Most importantly, the other guests were just as quiet and elegant as the resort. We were overwhelmed with the beauty, comfort and elegance of this hotel. It exceeded my high standards for luxury travel. It deserves the accolades that it has received. We have already booked our repeat stay for next year.

We wanted to spend 17 days in various parts of Mexico and chose this hotel as a 6 day finish to our holiday The staff and position of the hotel were excellent The food and facilities were very good with a very good beach bar ( recommended) We had junior suites with a beach view quite private and adequate Research your room before you book some rooms are less private Good choice of restaurants with a varied menu but consistently good happy smiley staff when you dine who are very attentive and friendly Watch out for the tax on food / drinks and service on top of the bill 31 percent in total spoils the enjoyment If you have no financial restraints enjoy this hotel we did Breakfast is a must with great views of the ocean enjoy

This was our first visit to Belmond Maroma, and my husband and I loved it! The grounds of this hotel are beautiful (jungle-like) and very well maintained. We stayed in a deluxe ocean front room (#24), which is located within the main building up the staircase. The view was amazing! We sat on our private patio every morning while enjoying the complimentary coffee and hot chocolate (delivered to our room daily at our specified time). Seriously the best hot chocolate ever! This was just a long weekend getaway for us so we didn’t venture outside of the resort. I recommend lounging on the beach (beach wait staff were very attentive), definitely visit the luxurious spa, and the jungle bike tour was very nice. It’s more than just biking through the jungle. At the end we were treated to fresh homemade juice and a short and sweet massage. We enjoyed dining at the 2 restaurants and especially loved having lunch at Freddie’s Bar on the beach. Food and drinks are superb, especially the ceviche and margarita’s. Everyone we encountered was so friendly, we truly felt relaxed and at home. This is a small, private resort, which was perfect our little getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

I have stayed at Belmond Maroma for a week with my boyfriend. It was our first time with Belmond Maroma and although we had high expectations, since we've been to other Belmond properties, this was something above and beyond. Our room was beautiful and charming. The food was gorgeous and we especially enjoyed Freddies bar. My favorites were the tomato sallad with goat cheese filled with caramelized onion - top notch. Also, the pasta with langoustine was beautiful. Compared to other beaches in the area, Maroma's beach is by far the nicest. We have been treated with professionalism at all times and with a personalized touch which made our experience unique!

I stayed recently in this wonderful hotel with my girlfriend and my stay was perfect. From the arrival at the hotel, through check-in, breakfast, until our departure, I never felt that well. Every employee made me feel at home. The place looked like a real paradise. We really enjoy the room and the beach. One employee went definitely beyond to fulfill our needs. His name was Diego. I could never thank him enough for making our stay memorable. We are already looking forward to come back very soon, next year.
