Called a “sexy, eco-conscious hideaway in the jungle” by Travel + Leisure, Viceroy Riviera Maya utilizes nature’s beauty in its design and details. Thatched stucco villas are finished with louvered mahogany doors, sisal rugs and canopy beds with Egyptian linens, and the surrounding rainforest infuses the grounds with serenity. Viceroy blends just the right amount of indulgence into your stay: Beckon a “tropical butler” for a poolside iced towel and learn about the area’s best tequilas during a tasting led by the resident Maestro Tequilero.

The best hotel, spa , food, service and more. We love this hotel so much everything is just perfect. The rooms are so private the beds beds very comfortable and perfect for couples to enjoy. It's very relaxing, the food is very good and fresh. The staff is definitely a 5* experience they really go above and beyond while during your visit. We especially love Jacqueline***** she's amazing and really makes your stay special. We love staying here and plan to come back over and over. We did meet another couple and they even told us how they also love it so much and keep coming back. Perfect getaway!!!!!

Amazing resort with the best customer service. Rooms are beautiful, the staff very helpful. The bar/pool service was the best! Pepe, our waiter took care of everything, he remembered our names and knew exactly what we needed. Pool attendants very accommodating, moved our lounge chairs so we could be together at the pool. If you’re looking for a wonderful place to stay to make your vacation special, this is the place! We will definitely stay again at the Viceroy!

The hotel setting and level of attention to detail is top shelf! The staff was amazing from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. Our room was amazing and we enjoyed being placed near the pool so it was easy to get back and forth as needed. We took advantage of the Private Cenote tour and our guide Daniel was an amazing tour guide. We enjoyed our time learning about the cenotes and local area from him. I would rate this place a 10/10 mostly because of the amazing service and the staff's dedication to making sure we had everything we need. Especially Pepe at the pool. He was awesome!

My husband and I went for a mini vacation to Mexico and chose this beautiful hotel for our stay. We are both very much impressed with this gorgeous property and how incredibly it is managed. The food was AMAZING, I’m addicted to ice cold coconut milk with lemongrass now. We are a difficult couple to accommodate as both of us have dietary restrictions but the hotel staff was patient with us and the chef was able to cook exactly what we asked. We were so pleased! Shout out to Carlos, one of the managers in the restaurant, he is a true gentleman and a pleasure to deal with. Overall 5+ experience and we will be back as soon as our children get older.

Positives: - The staff are wonderful. They are very helpful and we felt very looked after. - Rooms are fabulous. Very large bed, nicely decorated, outdoor shower and own private pool. Each room is a little villa. No high rise rooms here! - The grounds are beautiful. Well maintained and very green and jungle like. Lots of wildlife which we loved! - Lots of space, did not feel crowded. Always lounges on the beach and by the pool. - Food we had at the restaurant upstairs was delicious with great wine selection. Negatives/things to be aware of: - In built gratuity fee of 16%. This did not happen anywhere else in Mexico. I do not know if this is standard in other resorts but we felt this was excessive. Considering the prices were very high also. In Australia we do not tip so this was a shock. - The food menu is expensive and in USD. Room service is cheaper than the lunchtime restaurant. Almost $30 US for a hamburger! $7 US for Modelo beer that is $2 US at the 7/11 down the road. - It is very expensive to taxi into Playa Del Carmen. $35 US one way. Now this is not the hotels fault as this is the price set by the ‘taxi mafia’. But perhaps a small free shuttle for guests would be good. I have stayed at other resorts where this is offered. - The mini bar is ridiculously expensive. I have travelled a lot and have NEVER stayed in a hotel that offer a coffee pod machine and charge for the pods. The pods were $4 US! Perhaps you should make these free. - The beach is nice, but it’s not amazing. Tips: - Stock up on snacks and beers before you stay. There is a 7/11 and a couple of small local dinner places, but it is about a 15 minute walk. We wanted to have some local tacos one night and walked. It’s not too bad of a walk, there is a portion that is a bit of a laneway at the back of all the hotels, so not many people around and no street lights. We did it in the dark on the way back and had no problems. - Use an app called inDrive. It might be hard to find a driver from the resort, but easy enough to find one back from Playa del Carmen. It’s new to the area so not a huge amount of drivers as yet. Much cheaper than the taxis and a way of getting around the fact that there’s no Uber. Overall we had a great time and it was a relaxing way to end our busy trip around Mexico. It was also nice to stay in a resort that was not too ‘resorty’, no high rise buildings or busy with masses of people.
