One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Perfect if you like peace and quiet, although there are restaurants and nightlife nearby if you want to venture out. The Cay has its own pool and restaurant/bar too.

I took a group of 20 here for a fun beach trip and had a great time! The service was 5 stars and we loved all of the food and drinks. The scuba dive shop is TOP NOTCH but they also were able to arrange transport to and from town for us for a great price as well as a catamaran sailing trip for a better price than I could get from anywhere online. The hotel rooms were all beautiful. For me, I love the barefoot luxury concept, great service but with a more relaxed vibe. It was perfect for what we wanted and we can't wait to go back!

We stayed for 2 nights at Barefoot Cay, having booked last minute, and were really happy with our experience. The resort is very pretty and we enjoyed the novelty of the (24/7) ferry across the canal. Most of all though we were impressed by Josh, who really made our stay, going the extra mile to help us out with transport and other help.

First class everything! The suite on the beach was terrific and well equipped. The restaurant was great, the service was excellent, and the meal package well worth the price. The pool was perfectly clean and the temperature was delightful. I'm not sure what else a resort could offer. It is not Four Seasons luxurious, but I was not looking for that kind of pampering at a dive resort in the Caribbean. When not diving, the relaxation was perfect. Yes, it is a dive resort; if diving is not your "thing," you may be looking around for other activities to fill your day - but there are plenty. I just didn't take advantage of them because of the multitude of dive opportunities (which was my purpose). Others were amused by the dolphins, the fishing, the reptile farm... The staff cannot be more helpful from the pickup and drop-off at the airport to the special requests from the restaurant. The dive shop is well equipped and the staff is learned and eager to please. Is this the best diving in the world? No - I'm not sure "the best" exists any more in the Caribbean. But it is more than pleasant, the walls are still majestic, the coral still living, and there is plenty of sea life to keep one entranced. The dive package offered is well worth it (assuming you can take advantage of ten dives). I am eager to return. Bravo to the management at Barefoot Cay.

I am stuck in a place I don't like, but I am getting out of here today. BEWARE... This is a place for divers not for regular vacationers. This was like going on a blind dinner date, and wanting to run away the moment you arrive at the table. If you want to have a good time on your expensive vacation (this place is not cheap) please save your money and your time and don't come to this pace. Remember that saying "Location, location, location". This is an okay kind of place, for divers, but on the wrong side of the Island for regular vacationers. Like that guy people say he is very nice, but you quickly discover that he is just not your type. I come to Roatan often, and based on the great reviews on this place, I decided to give Barefoot Cay a try on a solo visit, before bringing my family here. BIG MISTAKE! I booked 4 nights directly through the hotel website. The moment I arrived on the cay I knew this was not the place for me. Nonetheless, I settled in my bungalow, took a walk around the property, visited the pool and restaurant, and that just further confirmed I wanted out of here. So, I called the reception, explained my desire to leave (asap), and I asked if they would consider any kind of partial refund. The receptionist said "the manager instructions were NO refunds". I have a slight suspicion this has happened before... a lot... People get here, they don't like it, so naturally they want their money back. The reception also said management was already off duty (It was around 3 in the afternoon). I asked if they would please talk to management since I had just arrived, and I was giving them notice of my desire to leave the property. The response was, they would try, but they emphasized that management did not like to be disturbed with such matters... What is management for then??? Why is a manager of a small hotel like this off duty by 3 in the afternoon??? He lives in the property... Then, I went back and reviewed the small print on my reservation. They require 60 days cancelation notice. Ridiculous, how could That even apply. I made this reservation 3 days prior to arrival... Wow, anyway... management can keep my money if they chose to be so close minded, but they CAN NOT keep my time. My time is mine and I will not be spending my precious vacation time at this place, so see you never Barefoot Cay!!!
