Great Property Needs TLC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We had a great time at Samoset on our anniversary trip. We enjoyed the quiet location, beautiful views, playing golf, and relaxing by the pool. The property looks like it is in the middle of an update. Rooms are clean and have awesome views. It is a family friendly hotel which was nice. If we had children with us, we would have enjoyed the activities and facilities available with them. Most of the staff was engaged and provided decent service, The only real negative is the physical appearance in some areas of the property. The landscape was beautiful, but the exterior of the building could use some shingles, pressure washing, and some fresh paint. But maybe that is coming soon. We noticed the rooms had a some modern updates with decor and the carpeting was new in some parts of the hotel. It is a lovely property otherwise and I think if they continue to update and upgrade the hotel it will be fabulous. We enjoyed our time there anyway and our room was very clean. The food was also very good. They have two restaurants but the menu is very similar with some of the same menu items. One side is more formal and the other is casual. Dinner outside was great and we loved the ambiance. The drive to Camden was only 15 minutes and we had a fabulous breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen.

Incredible Samoset Summer Vacation

Once again experienced a great vacation at the Samoset Resort. Beautiful ocean views nearly the whole time including dining, golfing, at the pool, and playing games with kids. Great friendly service. All in all just what our family needed.

Unbeatable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The most amazing ocean view of any resort I have ever been to. I spent a lot of time on the balcony while my family golfed on the ocean front course. Food was spectacular and the room was updated and very comfortable. Large gym for exercising and a fabulous walk to the Breakwater Lighthouse for those who want a little exercise. Very welcoming atmosphere and can’t wait to go back again!

Nicest resort in Maine

The resort is great. It has the nicest golf course on the property. The views of the ocean are beautiful.

Lovely property but outdated amenties and service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stopped here for a night on our way to Bar Harbor. The property is lovely, great views, but the amenities itself seem to be very outdated. Reminds me of a family resort from the 80/90's that hasn't quite known how to use technology to modernize services. Disappointed when we arrived and went to the pool at 5:00pm, that there were no drink/food options available. Nothing. You could order food from the restaurant, but they would not deliver to the pool area. Pool area was very outdated but had lovely views. Our room was nice, we had a hot tub, and the walk to the lighthouse was cool, but I can't justify the cost. Compared to other places we've stayed this one offered less amenities and activities. It's a bit old school.
