Reviews for Samoset Resort On The Ocean
We stayed at Samoset Resort for 7 nights. It's a beautiful spot - the grounds are lush with flowers and the landscaping is top shelf. We don't golf and I'd say at least half of the vacationers there don't either. The view from everywhere is something to behold. When we first arrived, it was a sunny afternoon and we quickly changed and went right to the pool. I was kind of sold right then and there. The view from the pool is unreal. You have Rockland Bay including an almost mile long breakwater with a lighthouse at the end (we walked out there the second day) and a panoramic look at Penobscot Bay. We played corn hole and other pool side games - our two girls, 9 & 11 loved the pool. I enjoyed a drink with my wife then dove in with the kids. The double queen room was spacious and comfortable - even though we didn't have a view of the ocean from our room, we had a little balcony where we'd leave the window open to hear and smell the sea. The breakfast buffet is the highlight of the meals on the grounds. We had lunch a couple of times at the pool and were happy with the lobster roll, though we heard good things about the different lobster roll at the Club House. There's only one option for dinner - La Bella Vita, so you definitely want to go into Rockland or Camden for dinner to mix it up. The Enoteca is the same food, basically a lounge/bar attached to La Bella Vita. The food was enjoyable, especially for a hotel restaurant. All the people on staff are friendly and you're free to just be here. There's plenty of great day trips - our favorite was a guided Kayak ride we took with Cody of Port Clyde Kayaks about 35 minutes away. We had beautiful weather - I'm not sure what we would have done inside if it rained because there isn't a great variety of indoor options for the kids - but honestly, not a huge deal. There's a Wii game room off of the health spa that we sent the kids to while we prepared our packs for the day. My wife had a massage there and found it relaxing, though was hoping for a deeper tissue rub down. (have to complain about something, right?) On top of it all, it was extremely reasonable. Sometimes we rent a house for a week and for what we spent all in, the Samoset was much cheaper. We'll be back.

We discovered Samoset Resort three years ago through some friends who were staying there. Since then we have enjoyed 2 five day stays at Samoset, in 2016 and 2017, and have made our reservations for 2018. It is that good. Mid-Coast Maine is a bit of heaven for us. Beautiful coastline, great restaurants, and wonderful people. Staying at Samoset has been the perfect vacation experience for us. It is located right on the water with exquisite views. We are not golfers, but it is surrounded by a beautiful course. Breakfast at La Bella is a real experience -- an amazing buffet, with inside and outside seating, looking out on Rockland Harbor and Penobscot Bay. There are many great vacation places in this world, but we would put our stays at Samoset at the top of our list.

An enjoyable family trip with a 13 year old? Yes! We just returned from a relaxing three nights. This was our third trip to Samoset, booked last minute so we went Sunday-weds. That turned out to be a good choice. We were checked in promptly and given a choice of floors. Room 327 did not disappoint- lovely view of the water and jetty. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfy - both husband and son remarked on this. Appreciated the small fridge. Would like a double sink. The setting of the hotel is so serene. You will enjoy a cocktail by the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. My son loves the disc golf, which is good fun for parents too. We also enjoyed the lawn games set up by the pool. The food is wonderful - we love the breakfast buffet, which had wonderful Maine blueberries, yogurt parfait, salmon, omelets....all great. Lobster quesadillas by the pool was a hit for lunch. Do not miss the blueberry pie dessert - wow. All of our servers were so friendly. But the resort was working them too hard - not enough people serving lunch at the pool or dinner. At all meals. We had to wait almost an hour one night to get our meals, and that was with a reservation. Put more people on, please. The pool did get quite crowded, not able to get a chair last day. A few more chairs would help, since a few large groups were camped out. However the pool is so nice that you really can't complain. You will feel lucky to be with your loved ones in this special spot. After several busy work weeks, this was just the ticket. And the 13 year old was never bored and always delighted with the food and outdoor activities. We'll be back next summer I hope, for a special celebration. Til then, thank you. Well done, Samoset staff.

The Samoset Resort property itself is amazing, with sweeping views of the golf course, Penobscot Bay, and the breakwater lighthouse. We stayed in the timeshare condos and never tired of stepping out onto our balcony to take in the views. Our only complaint from our stay in the condos was the noise through the ceiling from people walking around in the unit above - definitely request a top-floor unit. We found the staff to be incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the food at the on-property restaurant La Bella was excellent (both for dinner and Sunday brunch). Both pools (one indoor, one outdoor) were enjoyable for the kids, although even in mid-July the water was a bit cool. The golf course was beautiful, with great water views on a majority of the holes and excellent conditions on the fairways and greens. The hotel's concierge was very helpful in arranging off-property dining and activities. For dining, we'd especially liked their recommendations for McLoon's Lobster Shack on Sprucehead Island, the Home Kitchen Café in Rockland for breakfast, sitting outside at the Sea Dog Brewing Co. in Camden for lunch, and Waterfront in Camden for dinner. For activities, we really enjoyed their suggestions for cruising on the Schooner Olad, taking in the panoramic views from atop Mt. Battie in Camden Hills State Park, hiking the trail at Beech Hill Preserve, catching lobsters on the Captain Jack, exploring Owls Head State Park, and hitting the beach at Birch Point State Park. Overall, Samoset Resort exceeded our expectations for our family vacation to Maine. It was our first time staying at the Resort and we all agreed that we would absolutely stay there again!

I always liked Samoset, great golf course and super restaurant. I sold my house and booked in for a week. The staf was pleasant and my room perfect. The spa and gym included in the price, wow! Every evening I had pizza ...if I were Johnny DEP, I'd live there
