Imagine if a La Quinta Inn was converted into a retirement home and was then situated on the most idyllic swath of waterfront property in a cozy Maine town. That's Somerset! The rooms are appointed with all you need (a mini fridge, desk, etc.) but the decor is a bit dated. The carpeting in the hallways is very 1980's and is beginning to separate at the seams. Breakfast: $18/person including juice and coffee. Not a single complaint! Bar: The bar is very cozy and welcoming. There are several seating areas and plenty of room at the bar. The bartenders are very experienced and do a wonderful job on all of the classic drinks. Bulleit Old Fashioned = $14. Restaurant: Decent food but certainly not the best Italian. The recipes are geared toward an older non-ethnic crowd. A bit bland! But a bit of hot pepper spiced things up a bit. 7/10. View: It's worth the upgrade for an ocean view. Unfortunately, there aren't any rooms that are not overlooking the golf course. We heard a few shouts of "FORE!!!!" before 9:00 AM. The grounds are meticulously cared for. Guests: I love older people!!! However, there are many of them at the resort. I felt as if I was staying at a retirement home. Average age at dinner = 68?? However, that beats a rowdy crowd of teens.

While on a road trip with some friends we stayed at this resort for one night,we arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by the friendly staff.Check in was a breeze and our rooms were comfortable and well appointed. Our room had a view of the ocean but it was sometimes hard to see because of the coastal fog conditions. The wood floors of the lobby were very cool, Iv'e never seen wood floors like them. The restaurant was great with a fine selection of sea food and other great sounding dishes!. We ate fresh oysters and had cocktails on the outdoor patio by the fireplace. We are golfers however we did not golf but we talked to people around the fire that did who said the course was challenging and beautiful. We left the next day to continue our trip but vowed to come back one day because one day was just not enough!! We really loved this place,it made quite an impression on us during our short stay.

Very nice accommodations with a very nice restaurants, one formal, fine dining and one is more of a pub style with less expensive options. Nice workout area with a pool, you really don't have to leave the property once you get there, take a nice walk and enjoy the Ocean views.

We came for a long wedding weekend and we take back fantastic memories of a visit here - and it starts with the accommodations. Samoset is situated on the water and we had a room with a view. Room was large, clean, and comfortable. The hotel offers a number of amenities to its guests including an 18-hole golf course, large gym, indoor and outdoor poos, spa, a number of conference rooms, a nice bar and restaurant. Take the .81 mile walk along the stone jetty to the lighthouse to see a view of the resort from the hotel. AAA and AARP discounts offered too!!
