Samoset Resort On The Ocean

This is a nice resort with a golf course. We had a ocean view 1 bedroom condo. The only thing we did not like was the noise from the wedding party/band in the tent beneath our window one night. Be advised they rent these tents out.

Beautiful location but for $500+ /night they would benefit from more attention to customer service. Valet parking offered but nobody showed up so we parked ourselves. Nobody to help with luggage and no luggage carts available. We were in the “condo” section of the property which appeared quite dated. Overall an underwhelming experience for the price.

Samoset has an extraordinary oceanfront setting, a wonderful golf course and genuinely gracious staff. We stayed in one of the oceanfront cottages at a nightly rate exceeding $2,000. Although the interior had been updated and was nicely appointed, the overall experience fell considerably short of what we expected at this price point. Unfortunately, we encountered numerous maintenance and housekeeping issues. The television never worked despite an attempted repair, and the poor water pressure in the primary bathroom remained unresolved throughout our stay. We were contacted about addressing it on the day we were checking out. That bathroom also had a strong, unpleasant odor reminiscent of an outhouse, while the guest-bedroom closet smelled distinctly of urine. The ice maker barely functioned, and the pillows were uncomfortable. Perhaps most disappointing were the dirty windows and screens. When one of a property's greatest assets is its spectacular oceanfront setting, particularly in a premium waterfront cottage, unobstructed views should be a priority. The exterior deck also appeared tired, with peeling paint on the railings. Even the golf cart provided for our use was filthy, with old garbage left in the glove compartment. On the positive side, the waterfront location is magnificent, the golf course was excellent, and the staff were lovely. The restaurant was decent, although service appeared somewhat stretched. We travel frequently and have stayed at numerous upscale and luxury resorts. We recognize that no property is perfect and that maintenance issues occasionally arise. However, the number of deficiencies we encountered, coupled with the failure to resolve several of them during our stay, was disappointing. Unfortunately, we had a similar experience during a previous stay at another Opal Collection resort, where our air conditioning remained inoperable despite multiple attempts to repair it. Samoset has all the ingredients for an exceptional resort experience: a spectacular location, beautiful grounds, an excellent golf course and gracious employees. What is missing is the consistent attention to maintenance, cleanliness and detail that should accompany its luxury positioning and premium pricing. At more than $2,000 per night, we expected considerably better.

This is our stay-cation place. We go on average once a year, sometimes more. It’s a great place for families. The outside pool can be a bit noisy for adults looking to relax and have quiet. But the pool will keep your kids entertained. The hot tub rules of kids under a certain age is not enforced, but most places don’t enforce this, sadly. The service at the pool is great and food is very good at the splash bar. Amenities at the pool are excellent. Lots of games/ toys/ good bathrooms nearby. Views are outstanding, some of the best in the world. Inside pool has great new furniture, but pool is too cold and hot tub is sad and needs to be replaced. The room itself needs some natural light. The size is amazing. The rooms around the pool with inside games are super for families. The space for families is unbeatable. The outside fire pit with smores is super, though housekeeping needs to patrol it for empty glasses. The inside fires are wonderful, they make you want to linger and relax. Service is good not great, often having to wait a long time for a server. This has been an ongoing issue. The spa is world class. I travel a lot and have had treatments all over the world. These are magnificent. And the spa itself and gift shop at the spa are excellent. Make sure to book a treatment or two. The property is one that is designed to not have to leave. I love this. Once I am settled I don’t want to leave. But if you do, there are a lot of things to do and places to visit nearby. Gift shop is cute and fun. Front desk is always helpful and prompt. There will not be help with your luggage, but there are carts to use. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Rooms are well appointed and large. Beds and linens are beyond comfortable. The pull out beds are not good. They are not comfortable. The rooms with the hot tubs on the deck are great. Some things should improve with them though, need to be improved given the cost. The furniture needs to be cleaned with jomax cleaner, this cleans the type of furniture it is. I live in Maine—- I know this. Things need to be checked like that all the lights work, that the fridge and freezer work. Bring a sharp knife and cutting board and salt and pepper. There is ample room for snacks and drinks in the room. There are robes, safes, ample storage. Overall this is an amazing place year round. And don’t forget to do a daily walk to the lighthouse.

The room was great, had ocean view and balcony BUT for $700 a night, The children are running up and down hallways, playing and yelling on grass below balcony not the dedicated play area. That pool that looks so nice, the depth is only 5’ both ends so making the entire pool kid friendly and they give out balls etc to play so don’t think of relaxing or even swimming while a football is being tossed around in it. Also all chaise lounges overlook the pool, they should be on other side looking at view. I know it’s summer but the lack of some adult only areas or even wings( there are many) or adult times around pool make it not the quieter resort I was hoping for. Will not be returning Room service was average at best. Gave us wrong order and chicken was tough.
