This resort is a massive hotel set on a golf course right on the ocean. To be fair, we stayed there in April and it was still very cold. This hotel is the perfect place for large conferences. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The rooms were dark and somewhat dated. The only window was a small outdoor balcony facing the ocean. When we were there it was much too cold to stay on the balcony for any length of time.We ordered room service from the menu provided next to the phone. The food was underwhelming. If we were golfers we may have felt completely different about this place. In more temperate weather perhaps we would have enjoyed the long jetty and Lighthouse.( known as the Rockland breakwater) Our experience was of a very large and nondescript hotel with mediocre food but run by a very courteous and friendly staff. The rooms were clean but not to the point of being a noticeable achievement.

Many or most of the rooms at this resort have spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the golf course. The staff were all wonderfully helpful and pleasant. The resort includes a spa, a nice golf course, a pool, a nice play ground, and even two horseshoe pits and a small frisbee court. The room was a very nice size and the price was very fair given the season and the amenities. Each night, the staff runs a free Smore bond fire for kids...lots of fun! All that said, the room was in need of some renovation, including enhanced lighting.

My husband and I went to the Samoset to celebrate our 27th anniversary. It was an excellent decision! We stayed in Room 242 which is a direct oceanfront. It is on the end so our room looked out to the ocean and we had 2 large windows on the side overlooking the pool. A huge benefit in our view, was that the room was so quiet. Even when we stayed at other nice hotels (JW Marriot and Fairmont), the hallways can be loud. This room was perfect because it was at the end and actually had another door out to the hallway. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. There were room darkening drapes for the sliders that went out to a deck, and good shades for the side windows, so the room was dark for sleeping. The a/c worked great and stayed on all night, something that did not happen for us at the Fairmont in Bermuda. The service staff at Samoset was exceptional. Upon arrival, a tray of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne was delivered to our room compliments of the manager. Very nice touch! The wait staff at the pool was terrific and the housekeeping did a great job. We dined at the resort restaurant twice. The views are simply amazing and we thought the food was quite good. For breakfast my husband recommends the lobster benedict. Overall, the Samoset is a wonderful place to stay. The staff was truly exceptional. I would recommend the resort and the room.

It is annoying to be led to a too large table which is in a dark corner when there are much better empty tables that stay vacant during the entire dinner. After a time when it was evident the dining room was not busy and the better tables would remain empty, before our food was served, we quietly asked for a table change and were told "this is your table". Our server appeared annoyed with us, service was poor and the expensive dinner can be graded only as well below what it should have been. We made the reservation well in advance and as frequent supporters of the local restaurant economy feel this was a rip and will not go again or recommend this restaurant.

The resort itself was absolutely gorgeous! Great views of the water & sprawling golf course. The room itself was also good sized, clean and comfortable. Our room was on the ground floor with doors leading to a small patio outside. Unfortunately our room did not have a view of the water or golf course but it seemed like most of the others did--so maybe request that if it is important to you. It was totally fine though because there were Adirondack chairs out in the open with views of the water that we could sit at though which was lovely! The pool was very nice as well--I loved that you could see the lighthouse & water from there. We also got massages. It was one of the best I've ever had, I was overly impressed! The location wasn't too far from town--and there is a complimentary shuttle that brings you to the local areas! If you are looking for a good dinner spot, definitely try out Primo. It is a farm to table restaurant that allows you to walk the gardens & farms outback with a glass of wine before your meal! I can't wait to return--I would definitely recommend this hotel.
