The Duke Hotel is affordable luxury in Rome. Our suite with its own 5th floor patio was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant breakfast buffet was more than we ever expected and the staff generously provided me with gluten free options (I have celiac disease). The front desk staff was always pleasant, courteous, and helpful. And they responded to my every inquiry and request on the phone and by email before we arrived with courtesy and promptness. There is a shuttle service, but you may still end up using the taxi service as we did to get to the main Rome attractions. We had dinner in the restaurant a few nights and the meals were very good. There's a market just next door and a great little restaurant around the corner that I highly recommend. They, too, made me a fabulous gluten free pasta alla carbonara one night. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. If we ever return to Rome, we would definitely stay at the Duke Hotel once more.Thank you!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The staff was nice and helpful, they could speak French and English which was perfect for us. The breakfast is great in the mornings. We actually walked up from the bus station on the arrival day, and the hike to the hotel is steep, but it was good workout. The shuttle is very reliable and fast, it drops us at a very good location near the metro, so that makes the hotel location not as inconvenien as one might think. You do need to make sure you book the shuttle ahead of time in case it's filled. Some guests thought they could just walk up to it at a certain time, and they'd have to wait 30mins to an hour until there was a seat open, so make sure you call and book it. Overall great stay.

I really loved the amenities of the hotel and the rooms are very nice and spacious but the staff tended to be offstandish and seemingly a bit reluctant to speak in English. Every morning we had to go out of our way to ask the breakfast staff for a cappuccino when they would greet other guests and immediately ask them if they would like one. The reception desk workers have little patience. I did really appreciate the shuttle service this hotel provides since it’s quite a walk to the city of Rome– you get dropped off about 2 minutes away from Piazza del Popolo. And there are a few convenience stores and restaurants all within 5-10 minutes of the hotel if you’d prefer not making the trip to the city. The continental breakfast is pretty good. They have great, fresh juices and a variety of fruits, breads, cheeses, meats, yogurts, pastries, and cereals. The coffee is not fantastic, but the cappuccino is.
