Overall, the hotel was clean and the location wasn't too far from the city/was in a nice, quiet neighborhood. However, the food, decor and service were mediocre. I wouldn't consider this a four star hotel. The bed was very hard, and the bathroom had a small hair dryer that stopped working after several minutes. It wasn't a terrible experience, but for the price, you can definitely do better.

My friend and I visited the Duke Hotel in Rome in October. It is located in a very safe and nice hotel area in northern Rome above the park. The desk clerks and Management were very nice. The quaint hotel is quite charming and the restaraunt offers good food for dinner. Also, the breakfast buffet is included with your room. Our room was impeccably clean. Do Not exchange USDollars for Euros at the desk, the rate is too high. Get them at your local bank before leaving home. Extra perk is the hotel provides shuttle service hourly to and from The City Center, where you can walk to many sites or connect with The Big Bus and circle the entire city with the hop on/hop off pass. The hotel is located near two other restaurants and a market on the corner for fruits and snacks.

Was here for business and was a totally adequate experience. Saw rates on internet for 1/3 the price we paid and for around $60 my review would be quite different. Rooms comfortable but a bit worn. Breakfast unimpressive. Staff friendly but not particularly helpful and didn't follow up on requests. Van to piazza Del Poppolo was indeed very convenient when you could get a seat on it, Short distance to city center-- so why not stay there instead...

Pros: very quiet area; friendly helpful staff; clean; large room; fresh linen and towels every day. Cons: bathroom – a bit small; fixed shower rather than flexible; fittings rather worn. Room – no tea/coffee making facilities. Dining room lacks character; meal quality poor; small portions. Hotel rather faded - needs some redecorating and refurbishing. No proper bar. Breakfast: plentiful but food quality not that good, especially the fruit. Plastic bowls for cereals. Location: need for shuttle minibus. This needs to be booked in advance both ways and you may not get a place when you want it, and it means you have to plan ahead when you want it. Tourists may refer a more central location. The cons mean that four stars is something of an overstatement.

The Duke is a hilly mile from the Piazza di Populo in a quiet residential neighborhood. A convenient free shuttle is always available. A wonderful and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms Very good free breakfast buffet.
