This hotel is just ok . Breakfast very nice - dinner- mediocre at best. Staff at front desk - all of them were rude to a point, and could not care less about visitors . Shuttle service would be ok if they had more than a little 6 seater or at least have 2 of them running to main area near piazza de Popolo. It’s quite annoying not being able to get an appt !!! So make sure you know what you are doing and what time you need shuttle . Rooms clean, bed hard as a rock , mediocre hotel stuck in the middle of a residential area, kind of weird setting . There is absolutely nothing special about this place and because staff was rude and uncaring - I barely can give a 3 rating here, it’s generous ...

The Duke Hotel is located in a swanky residential neighborhood north of the Borghese Gardens. The Hotel staff were multi-lingual and very professional. The bellman was never present (either driving shuttle bus or occupied elsewhere), so no help with baggage. We were not permitted to use the luggage trolleys (we were told they had to be used by the absent bellman). As such, this was a super negative since we had a number of bags. After the negative experience with the luggage, we entered our room. The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. The king-size bed was two smaller beds pushed together with a cleft right in the center. My wife and I felt like Ricky and Lucy Ricardo sleeping in separate beds. The carpet was worn and stained in many places. We asked for a room with a clean carpet, and nothing else was available. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. The soap dish had been broken and glued back together. The toilet seat also had been broken and was similarly repaired. We dined in the restaurant. We were unable to locate the wait staff, so I opened a door at the rear of the restaurant and found a service corridor. I flagged down a man who said he would send a waiter. Thereafter, the waiter appeared and took our order. Other than bringing our food and the check, he was AWOL. The food was so-so, and moderately priced. When we checked out, we ran into the same problem with the bellman, so we carted the luggage down from our room. We were happy to leave the hotel after four-days and would not return. We also would not recommend the hotel. We did appreciate the desk staff. They were the bright spot in an otherwise gloomy stay.

I would expect that for eur 160 per night you can receive a great service BUT they lost my pyjamas when changing the linens, they were not able to find it within 3 day. Although I asked every day, they did not even apologize and the only information was that they will usually find it and that they will call the cleaning company. The personnel was not pleasant. The bed was too firm. The internet was so slow that I could not even connect to my employer´s network and work from the hotel. I dont know why it is a four star hotel.. they dont even have a gym.

This is a great hotel & excellent staff. The shuttle service works perfectly well, so we have no complaints about the location. Our suite was fine, as expected in terms of comfort, size, cleanliness, and facilities. However, we were disturbed by a constant noise produced by HVAC system from outside. That could be improved and we regretfully would like to reduce one star because of this.
