My husband and I stayed at Villa Agrippina from May 25 to June 2. It is a wonderful hotel nestled in the area surrounding the Vatican. The first thing I want to mention is the staff - every single one of them. It was like staying with a warm and welcoming Italian family. The people at the concierge desk were friendly and extremely helpful and so were the people at the check in desk. The hotel has a very large gorgeous outdoor pool that we started every day swimming in and the pool attendant Marco was super friendly and funny and made our mornings very pleasant. We chose a lovely room with a large terrace with a jacuzzi that we enjoyed after our swim. There was one problem with the room that I have to mention because other people should know this - the bath tub could be dangerous for older people and anyone with issues with strength, balance or flexibility - it was very high and difficult to climb into and there was no separate shower. The tub had a rain shower but no grab rails and the tub was also very narrow and curved on the bottom making it difficult to balance in. The faucets were placed low so you had to bend over to turn the water on and off. I mentioned this to the people at the front desk who told me they have other types of bathrooms but I didn’t request another room because my husband and I are super fit seniors and we could manage it. I would have liked to have been informed about this situation when I booked it. A walk in shower would have been better However we will definitely go back to this hotel because it was simply wonderful and a major contributor to making our trip perfect. Oh - and the food is delicious!

The hotel was beautiful and the room was nice, just around the corner from Vatican and in near vicinity of other tourist hotspots as well. Check in process was smooth and there was a bottle of wine and a greeting card waiting when we got to the room. All the staff was very nice and welcoming, but Ferry from the breakfast team stood out the most for us. We were impressed by his friendly and warm demeanor and his ability to memorize all of our coffee orders the whole time we were there. We had a very pleasant time staying there and definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Rome!

I stayed at Villa Agrippina with my girlfriend. The hotel facilities are clean and well maintained, I would say the hotel is as advertised. For both us we said that the hotel has a boutique hotel vibe, the location and outdoor space does offer a calm refuge from the city of Rome which can feel very manic. However I have had to rate the hotel as average as we both felt the hotel is very greedy on the level that they price items like food and drink. You are looking at 12 euros for a cup of beer or 27 euros(!) for a club sandwich at the pool side, which unfortunately reduces the feeling of a 'refuge' from the busy city. Further more, we arrived one evening around midnight, I asked to have a gin and tonic bought to my room via room service, I was advised that this was not possible at this time, which doesn't match up with the 5* experience you expect from other hotels globally. In sum, the hotel facilities, are nice, clean, staff very pleasant and helpful but it feels like it has squeezed itself into 5* status and you are way over charged whilst there for the experience you get.

Stayed for three nights as an extension on a Viking Cruise. Outstanding experience. The service was spectacular and the pool area was beautiful. A very nice dining experience with great food. Located very near many Rome attractions. Walking distance to many attractions including Largo di Torre Argentina, Curia of Pompey, and Campo de’ Fiori Market. Adjacent to Vatican City. Concierge Gianfranco was immensely helpful in getting us Vatican/St Peter’s tickets. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to Rome.

Magnificent hotel in a great location with a big plus... the outdoor pool! Very attentive service and particularly efficient concierge. Excellent value for money in the 5-star category in Rome, but perhaps not at the 5-star + level. Service worthy of an LHW. We recommend it without hesitation.

The best hotel in Rome. Congratulations to the management of the Gran Melia Rome for an extremely well-organized hotel.
