We gave this hotel a 4/5 because the property itself is lovely, perfectly located not far from Vatican City, and offers a true luxury experience. What really saved our stay, however, was the outstanding customer service. The Good: The Service: The staff here are incredible. When we ran into issues, they handled them with grace and a genuine desire to help. The Vibe: The hotel and the rooms are beautifully appointed and definitely deliver on that high-end, luxury feel. Location: Excellent and very convenient for exploring the area around the Vatican. The Logistical Challenge: Traveling with children, we were initially assigned connecting rooms, which was great in theory. However, they placed us on the first floor, which felt like a partial basement level right near the gym, complete with bars on the windows. It just didn't feel like the right or comfortable option for our family. I addressed this immediately with the front desk, and they happily and quickly moved us. Unfortunately, due to availability, we had to be split up across two separate floors. To add to that, the new rooms we were given were incredibly small—we barely had enough space to unpack our luggage. Overall Impression: While the physical room setup and layout were an unfortunate frustration for a family trip, the hotel's luxury quality and stellar service more than made up for it. We appreciate how hard the staff worked to accommodate us!

Beautiful property. Spendy! Good service but for a few lazy reception workers. Not as close to main attractions as other reviews may lead you to believe, and few cabs. Even fewer Ubers. Clean, by Italy standards. Excellent breakfast buffet! One of the best I’ve experienced. Restaurant staff in Gala for dinner was lazy, too, except for Juan. Juan seemed, at times, to be one of few working. Friendly. The person who gave the tip about walking through the car park is a genius!

Our stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá was absolutely exceptional. This is without question one of the best hotels in Rome if you want to combine luxury sightseeing with a real vacation atmosphere. The service was outstanding from start to finish — professional, attentive, and genuinely high-end. The location is perfect: walking distance to the Vatican and Rome’s historic center, yet the hotel feels peaceful and private. Before booking, I seriously considered other top luxury hotels in Rome, including Bvlgari Hotel Roma and several other famous five-star properties. However, what ultimately made Villa Agrippina stand out was something the others simply could not offer: incredible suites with truly spectacular terraces and views. What makes this hotel truly unique is the atmosphere. You can spend the day exploring Rome and then come back to relax by the amazing outdoor pool, almost like being at a luxury summer resort. Very few hotels in central Rome can offer this combination. In my opinion, it makes little sense to book other luxury hotels in Rome — even more expensive ones — if they don’t offer outdoor space or balconies. Here you can stay in spectacular suites with enormous 120m² terraces, large private jacuzzis, and breathtaking views over the Vatican, the old city, and the Tiber River. The terrace experience alone makes this hotel special and very difficult to match anywhere else in Rome. Another huge advantage: the jacuzzi water is very warm, so it’s perfectly usable even during colder months. After getting out, the terrace area still feels comfortable and cozy, which creates an amazing experience in the evening. One useful tip: it is worth calling the central reservation office of Meliá Hotels International directly before booking. In many cases you can negotiate a noticeably better rate than on Booking.com or other hotel platforms. This hotel offers something extremely rare in Rome: a true luxury resort feeling right in the middle of the city. Highly recommended.

This is a very nice hotel. The people are very friendly. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The Vatican is a short walk and there are many excellent restaurants within A short walk.

A beautiful junior suite had all the amenities we wanted and all the space we needed for luggage from several weeks of touring and shopping. Staff were as accommodating as could be. The spa staff were both warm and very professional; appertivo at sunset by the pool was perfect. We could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go in Rome. It's really a bit of an oasis!

The best hotel in Rome. Congratulations to the management of the Gran Melia Rome for an extremely well-organized hotel.
