Mecenate Palace Hotel

Perfect location to get on taxi or just walk. Beautiful view from room 409 to see the majestic church just across the street. Magical experience. Breakfast was one of our best ever as for a buffet in a European hotel.

Beautiful room with an amazing view out my window. Excellent breakfast in rooftop restaurant! Definitely stay here again. Very close for us to take the train anywhere, short walk!

Stayed for three days in September. I was a little aprehensive after reading one or two negative reviews after we booked it. Our experience was excellent. Yes the rooms are not the biggest, but it is a classic hotel in the centre of Rome what do you expect. Yes parts need a little redecoration but it is blessed, with iconic high ceilings, chandeliers and decor to match its history. The rooms were kept spotless, staff coud not have been more helpful. The view from the rooftop bar at sunset looking over to the Bassiiclar was stunning. Would not hessitate to come back. Mike and Jackie.

I booked directly with the hotel for three days. They sent an email offering an airport transfer; although it was expensive, I booked it and confirmed the details via email, including my flight number. They confirmed the booking but stated that if I didn't end up using the service, I would still have to pay the full amount. When I arrived at the airport, no one was there. I called the hotel, but they knew nothing about it; they told me the person who handled my booking was new and suggested I take a taxi (as if I didn't know how to take a taxi from an airport). At check-in, there wasn't a single apology for failing to arrange the transfer. The elevator wasn't working, so everyone in the hotel had to use a single service elevator throughout my three-day stay. The air conditioning wouldn't go below 27 degrees; it was unbearably hot, making it impossible to sleep. Even when I pressed the "Do Not Disturb" button next to the bed, staff would still enter the room and touch my belongings. When I complained and asked them not to enter while I was out, they claimed I hadn't put up the "Do Not Disturb" sign. True, I hadn't put up a sign—because there wasn't one—but the room *did* have a "Do Not Disturb" button. And while I didn't have a "Do Not Disturb" sign, I didn't have a "Make Up Room" sign either. In short, they do whatever they please with their guests. It is a hotel with potential, but the management and staff are terrible. If you plan to book, don't do it directly with them; if you run into issues, they won't do anything to help you. A travel agency or tour operator would be able to help you switch hotels if you wanted to get out of there fast.

Interesting one. Was probably beautiful 25 years ago. Location is good. It was clean. Bed was comfy. I’d stay again if had no alternative but would really rather not due to the absence of basic modern amenities. We stayed 2 nights and then another 2 nights after a 7 night cruise so I have experience of 2 room types and think this is balanced. No iron in rooms and no iron available to borrow/use. Shocking in 2026. Hardly any sockets in rooms. No USB port of any type. Any sockets available were not near the beds and the actual wall sockets were ancient. Modern adapters couldn’t stay in. The public areas of hotel are not A/C’d so it is absolutely sweltering. The shower/bath isn’t easy to get the temperate right as I think it was fitted out in Pope Linus times. 20 euro for an aperol spritz in rooftop bar when it’s 8-13 everywhere else nearby and the ground floor bar was closed all 4 of the days. It’s a 3 star hotel at the very best.
