The General Manager needs to be complemented for his entire excellent staff. We stay at Accorhotels whenever we can. Although not all are top grade hotels, we find Sofitel to be among the very best. From the moment we entered the hotel (with a welcome drink) until we checked out (after an all encompassing breakfast), it continued to be an amazing experience. The staff in all departments were among the most friendly and professional of any hotel we have stayed at. Thanks to the location of this Sofitel hotel, my wife was able to walk to the shopping area while I relaxed at the hotel. Keep up the wonderful atmosphere. Carl M Valenti

We're pretty picky about a bed we sleep in and this bed was really comfortable. Location was pretty good as the Hotel was walking distance to the Spanish Step as well as one of the stops for hop-on hop -off bus (we choose Roma City Sightseeing Bus - paid €31 for 48-hour access). Room was big enough for 2 of us and loved the strong water pressure in shower. Breakfast buffet was very nice. Staffs were very courteous and attentive. Lots of fruits, fresh squeezed juices, eggs (made to order), various pastries, cured meats, and etc. We were satisfied with choices offered. They didn't have a coffee machine or electric kettle in the room like most other hotels. Also, don't drink the mineral water bottles displayed. It's €4 per bottle. WORST part about this hotel was their WiFi. It was the worst WiFi service ever. Extremely slow and constantly dropping. It was very frustrating.

Excellent service, very friendly staff, good tips for eating. Room extra clean, wc and bathtub Italian design. Bed and mattress wonderful. All amenities were super. The best is that in the room they have installed a gsm device whith maps and free phone access to all Rome!

We were staying in this hotel for 4 nights. The stay was quite disappointing for us being the Accor Club Members reaching their Platinum status due to the fact that it was our third stay in a row this year in one of Accor properties where we were not offered a room upgrade with no word of explanation. Initially, we were booked in a room with very tired equipment and we had a clearly claustrophobic feeling when getting in. Not only because of the size of the room but also because of the fact that the room has a lot of corners and small alleys leaving not much space for basic accommodation. After the intervention, we were moved to other room of the same category with a hotel's apology in form of a bottle of wine. The equipment and the furniture in the new room were of much better quality, however still not matching the pictures we saw on Hotel's webpage. Surprisingly, the size of the bathroom was very comfortable as compared with the size of the sleeping area. The location of the hotel is very good, however you can find cheaper hotels in the area offering comparable quality of accommodation. The subway station Spagna is located within 10-minutes walking distance from the hotel. There are plenty of local restaurants in the area. No need to ask concierge, just head to Via Sardegna and take the best local, traditional Italian restaurant of the world with excellent food, moderate prices and friendly staff :-). The staff at check-in was nice and I had the impression that I was in two different hotels when comparing the attitude of hotel's employees at front desk and in the restaurant. I dont think that the staff at restaurant are rude. Simply, they service you like you were on package holidays in one of the TUI resorts. Moreover, I think that this hotel is facing the usual dilemma of many properties in top tourist destinations i.e. focus on groups of tourists who will probably never be back or appreciation of loyalty vis-a-vis Accor club members who deliberately choose the property because of loyalty appreciation and the atmosphere. This hotel clearly focuses on the first group as their target. The variety of food selection at breakfast is somewhat limited, probably due to the lack of the space. The coffee served in the canes is awful. It tastes like the cheapest Tchibo Family brand so please ask for coffee served directly in the cups which tastes very good. Waiting time of 10 minutes to get your scrambbled eggs is also a bit too long. The views from the restaurant on the top of the building are spectacular, you can admire the entire panorama of the city of Rome. To sum it up, no need to pay the price which is 25% higher than comparable hotels in the area. I made another reservation in this hotel for the beginning of December due to my business trip. However, I am going to check tomorrow the cancellation policy and go for another property if only possible.

This hotel does not live up to Sofitel standards we have experienced in other countries. Our room paint on walls peeling, wallpaper coming apart at joins. Heating not working properly. No tea coffee facilities in room. Overall extremely disappointed.
