This is a fairly new, beautiful and very modern hotel not far from the beach and the historic old town of Rovinj. The area has a lot of fantastic places to visit so we booked in for two nights. Great restaurants with interesting menus. Had an excellent meal in the evening and very good breakfasts. This hotel is expensive but worth treating yourself because everything provided is such a high standard.

As I've said in the description, this hotel is lovely and I think it's 5 star rating is probably down to the aesthetics of the hotel rather than ticking all of the important boxes of a 5 star. Upon arrival it's hard not to be impressed once you've taken a quick tour of the hotel. Lovely room, the foyer is undoubtedly eye catching and the pool area leading into a secluded beach is gorgeous. The spa is huge by British standards but be prepared for nudity as no swim suits allowed in the sauna area. We were on a babymoon so we had some treatments which we thoroughly enjoyed. I don't usually do spa treatments away but this spa wasn't one you'd want to leave without trying! A few things that this hotel just missed out on for us we're service, cleanliness and the attention to finer details that you expect in a 5 star resort. By day 3 we had a total of 9 glasses in our room that hadn't been taken away by the cleaners, where we had taken some water up to our room from downstairs. The room itself is lovely but I did need to scrub the bath before I got in it, few hairs and scum at the bottom of it. The bed never really looks made again after the first night, so enjoy the fresh crisp bedding on night one while it lasts. The transfer from the hotel to the resort was approx 300HKN more than getting a normal cab, and that's each way! So it adds up, organise your own transfer. Pool area was clean and impressive to look at but unless you're there in a scorching hot day you probably won't want to take a dip in the ice cold pool. The indoor pool was warmer, however, not a comfortable temperature to step into as it was cooler than any spa pool I have used. All said and done we had a lovely time, and I would return to the hotel at the right price, however, I would manage my expectations to expect 4 star service in a pleasant environment. Family and pet friendly good hotel, has potential if they picked up on the service and cleanliness to make the stay that extra bit special.

While staying there for just two nights there were some faults that hotel with 5* should, by my opinion, never allowed to itself. Here are just some of them that we noticed: • there was some noise (probably AC device for hotel) heard in the room at night although the windows were closed (not very loud though); • very loud noise coming from ventilator in the bathroom on our arrival; they fixed this problem after two calls :-); • TV: first night there was impossible to switch programs and all the time there was a problem with freezing picture and loosing voice for 1 second every 10 seconds; • cleanliness: at our arrival there was a lot of stuff (at least 10 shampoos, ashtray, bottle opener, at least 5 glasses, papers,…) stuffed in safe like that this was a storage for housekeeping (see picture), also minor flaws in overall (hairs, dust,…); • breakfast: the variety of food was ok, though the second day when we came at 10 a.m. there was already smaller offer; the quality of the food was quite low (way over-salted prosciutto, some cheap mortadella sliced to thick, no fresh juices and produced juices of low quality (a lot of sugar, artificial flavor,…). Nonetheless, I have to commend the staff; they were very nice and helpful. The location of hotel is OK but is a bit far from city center (half an hour of walk) and it would be nice if they could organize some transportation to the city. I like the architecture and decoration of the building. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The food in the restaurant was good though a bit overpriced in my opinion. At the end I must comment two things that are happening in all of hotels which is very bothering and I just don't know why is this such a problem to change it (it doesn't cost nothing and the guest would enjoy more). One are slippers!!! Why can't they give you more appropriate shoe number of slippers? I always get much, much too small. Would it be a problem to put bigger slippers for men in the room? Or smaller for women? Second is turning off the TV. All TVs now have a function to turn themselves off but in many hotels this function is off the access. Also in this one. Therefore, TV is turned on for all night making them extra cost and wakening you in the middle of the night.

My wife and I just spent a magical 7 days (it was only 5 days but we loved it so much we extended our stay) at Hotel Lone for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had initially booked a Jazz room but given that our stay was in mid-late April, we were concerned the water in the jacuzzi would be too cold. We upgraded to a Bay suite and boy were we glad we did. The view from room 425 was breathtaking. 2 balconies, 1.5 bathrooms, a bed worthy of the gods, a breakfast meant for kings and staff that would bend over backwards to make our stay memorable. BIG KUDOS to the hotel manager Silvia (I'm sorry but I never got her last name) as well as Tonka at the reception desk. We had a lot of questions in the weeks prior to our stay that Silvia promptly answer. Both Silvia and Tonka helped book and answer questions about excursions which helped us tremendously. We've never encountered a hotel manager and staff that's as friendly and accomodating as them. If it were possible to give a hotel a higher rating than 5 stars, I would do it!! Thank you Silvia and staff. We look forward to returning to Hotel Lone soon!

Around the hotel it's written it's the little things that matter. I have to agree and that is exactly what makes the hotel truly horrible. The two points I have to the hotel is for the comfortable bed and cleanliness. Other than that there's nothing. The only helpful staff here is the reception manager Tamara and perhaps the night staff who I called to adjust the room temperature. The rest of the staff are curt and negligent. I've always said I've never had a bad meal in Croatia. This hotel is an exception. The restaurant serves Argentinian steak which is laughable given how great the istrian meat is. Having seen how preposterous this is I already guessed the food can't be good so I went for the safest thing, a salad. They managed to screw that up too. Well in fact even the coffee is tasteless and watery. Breakfast is served until 11am. I went down at 11.20 and just wanted to have a coffee. They refused to even give me a cup of coffee. I ordered a glass of wine in the middle of the night. The wine is 46 kr and the room service charge is 40. Please see the attached picture. There's no way to adjust the temperature in the room. The spa is cold realistically and figuratively. The treatment room was so cold that even the therapist said that she's freezing. The massage table is the most uncomfortable one I've been on. There's no way to relax during the massage not that the therapist was that good anyway. I generally won't choose to stay at design hotels as the service usually is bad. This is no exception.i won't recommend this hotel to anyone.
