Reviews for Auberge du Soleil
Were booked a deluxe valley view room, and I have to say the room itself was lovely. The terrace, however, was tired concrete, mold covered in places, with outdoor furniture that looked to be from the early 1980's and without a hint of greenery, flowers, what have you. The concrete walkways that lace the ground (filled with truly appalling sculpture) make it feel like a second-tier LA retirement home; the biggest disappointment was the famed restaurant, where we had literally terrible asparagus soup, over salted lamb, and minuscule portions of adequate cheese plus only three simple glasses of wine between us (i.e. 1 1/2 each) all for the ridiculous price of just over $400 for two. Embarrassing. And the bacon at breakfast was so dried out that it resembled driftwood rather than a meat object. Oh - they don't even know how to make a pot of tea, by the way, filling a small pot with enough tea for a large one, and leaving the tea leaves in it so that it just gets stronger and stronger while it sits on the table. This deserves a Michelin star. Finally, we booked massages two weeks in advance and got to the spa 20 minutes early to change, shower, etc. My partner's masseuse showed ups 20 minutes later, there was still no sign of mine and nobody had even bothered to check on me. We travel hugely and stay at places in the same "league" as this often. I'm an easy guest and generally have no complaints. The Auberge du Soleil, however, is tired, ugly (brown, brown, brown), has bad over-priced food, and terrible service. It was an embarrassment.
Absolutely best experience. We had beautiful time at Napa Valley, our goal was explore specific type of reserve wine in best winerys out there. The restaurant was on top of expectations. Dinner was amazing and staff well trained. At the morning we enjoyed good service for breakfast in the room, as well as at the terrace. Good service and lovely atmosphere helped to create great family memories about this trip. Highly recommend for any type vacation or getaway time.

Auberge du Soleil is as perfect a spot to stay in while in Napa as I have found over the years. Large comfortable rooms. Quiet. Flawless service and terrific food along with a great middle of the valley location just off the Silverado Trail. It’s worth every penny you pay to stay there. I could not find a single thing that was not done flawlessly while we were there.

If I could give this hotel 7 stars, I would . . . Everything about my magical one-night stay at this impeccable resort--which was a short weekend getaway for the Napa Valley Marathon--was just perfect. While it's not cheap, I can honestly say my experience far exceeded that of some of the world's best hotels (Four Seasons, Ritz, Mandarin Oriental, etc.). For starters, my hillside deluxe room was gorgeous: the bathroom (with soaking tub and two sinks) was spacious, the decor beautiful, and the California King bed was like sleeping in heaven. Now let's get to the service. I simply cannot express my appreciation for the staff at the Auberge, who all went above and beyond the call of duty in accommodating all of my many requests. From dietary restrictions to breakfast service at 5am (they normally don't start till 6)--to shuttling me to the marathon start line at 5:45 since there were no taxis (in a Mercedes coupe, no less)--I truly felt like a pampered King for the weekend. Each and every one of the staff members deserves a raise (or at least a gold star) for graciously accommodating all of my demands! The personalized service and attention to every detail was unparalleled. Not only did the experience make my marathon weekend; it also reminded me why I am grateful to live in Northern California, with access to such magical, serene resorts like the Auberge du Soleil. This was my first stay here, but it will definitely not be my last! P.S. - The restaurant is fantastic too, and worthy of every Michelin Star it's earned!

Everything about this resort is fantastic. The rooms are amazing, the service, the attention to details, the view, the food. You will never want to leave. We spent an afternoon in the Spa, it’s not to be missed, a real treat. We can’t wait to come back!
