I have been staying at the Christopher for years - each year it gets better. The staff is fantastic - the hotel grounds beautiful and improvements are made every season. I have stayed at "fancier" hotels on the Island but this is the best one.

This is my second time at this property, service is exceptional and location is perfect. This is a very relaxed property and everyone at the resort made you feel very special. The entire staff was accommodating to myself and my 6 month old daughter. Kevin at the pool was fantastic and reserved a shaded area for us daily. Breakfast was outstanding and included when you book at the hotel. Dinner at Taino was good, but not as good as some of the restaurants in downtown Gustavia. I cannot wait to go back next year!

I have a dilemma, do I rate the hotel on my experience and cost or do I rate it on the fact that it's listed as a five star resort. I have taken the tack that I should do it on the five star claim, hence the 3 stars. This may be unfair to the property, but hopefully reading through my review you will get my point. A five star property in my opinion would be Eden Rock and Cheval Blanc, I visited both of these facilities, ate lunch and dinner at these, and to say this hotel is in the same class as them I would say is wrong. Both have stunning beaches and a awesome setup to enjoy the beach. They are both more expensive than Hotel Christopher. There is no beach at Hotel Christopher, and none to walk to. Almost nothing is in walking distance. They have a "rock beach" which I would use at your own peril. You can neither sit on it comfortably and I saw the locals having trouble entering the water to surf. This is not something a tourist should try to do in my opinion. I found the lunch at Hotel Christopher overpriced even for St. Barts. Again, I ate lunch at Cheval Blanc, which was unbelievable, and it was the same price as Hotel Christopher. Both places will run you around $50-70 a head, depending on beverages consumed. I would rank Cheval Blanc's lunch in the top five scenically I've ever eaten, while Hotel Christopher's experience I've had at most Caribbean properties I've been to. If you want to go anywhere, you need to take a taxi. It seems a taxi for two will run you around $25 each way anywhere you want to go, so plan that in the budget if you plan to leave the resort. All this being said, I did have a wonderful stay. It is a top end 4 star resort in my opinion. The food was great, the drinks were great ($17 euro's a pop) and the service was excellent. Jackson at the bar is quite the personality, and the concierges were unbelievably helpful. If I rated this on a four star level, I would give it 5 stars. The airport pickup and drop off went very smoothly, again, great service at this place. Everyday we were greeted by all the staff, and everyone seemed in a good mood. As you can see from the pictures on the site, the pool is quite nice. You can sit overlooking Anse de Lorient while drinking cocktails, a great experience. This will be the highlight of staying here, it was very relaxing. So to conclude, I loved this place, but I feel it is not classified correctly. The same set up with a beautiful beach to go along I might change my opinion. You will save on the room, but that's where the savings end, since you will pay full 5 star price for drinks, food, and a taxi everywhere if you like to explore the island like I do. Hope this helps, since I had trouble picking a place on the island based on other reviews I read. No one seems to compare properties, just review the one they're at.

There is nothing seriously wrong here, rooms are adequate, property well maintained, clean and staff is friendly.. However for almost $1000.00 per night it should be much better. For example, the breakfast buffet ran out of eggs every day with no apologies. No real service around the pool had to ask for drinks at bar and never offered a lunch menu, mini bar refrigerator did not work all week and no one noticed it. As a well travelled couple we just expected a little higher level of service and luxury. A couple of exceptions though.. the valet and the consierge were both exceptional.
