Gorgeous beach front property and greet service and food!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

We went for a lovely breakfast and decided to stay do the day. Kelva and Urban were wonderful staff, so lovely and engaging and the food and cocktails were delicious. We spent the day at their beach to snorkel and relax. Lots of fish to see across the protected, pristine bay. Loved our day here!

Laluna Resort – Well Aged Like a 25-Year Single Malt Scotch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Connoisseurs of Scotch whiskey know a 25-year single-malt Scotch tastes much better than a Scotch that’s only aged 7-10 years. Like a well-aged Scotch, Laluna is one of those resorts that has aged very well over its 25-year history. Like a good Scotch, it has those elements that are difficult to describe … but you know they make the difference between the aged and the new. Perhaps it’s the way nature has blended into the hillside, giving its 16 unique cottages and 3 luxury lodges an aura that other resorts surrounded by commercial and residential developments don’t have. Perhaps it’s laying on a beach lounge, soaking up the warm sun, or sipping a drink at the open-air lounge. Or perhaps it’s enjoying a quiet dinner with your loved one looking at the setting sun without the sound of traffic drowning out the soothing sound of the waves crashing on the sandy beach. Whatever it is, Laluna, like a 25-year single-malt Scotch, has aged very well. The grounds, the rooms, the pool, the beach … all were well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly. The food was good. The place was very enjoyable, a great place to relax, chill out, and do lots of nothing. Living in Canada where -25°C temps are guaranteed, ma belle femme suggested a 2-week romantic getaway in February for my 80th birthday. At first glance, the place seemed a bit pricey. However, after comparing Laluna to other resorts in a similar class, it seemed like a bargain. Only 16 chalets uniquely designed in a Balinese (South Pacific) style and 3 luxury villas, all set in the side of a tree-covered hill, far enough away from other establishments and buildings, so that you’re almost in the middle of nowhere. If you’re missing “civilization”, it’s a short 15-minute taxi ride St George’s, the major town in Grenada, population 30,000. The 16 chalets are arranged in four tiered rows on the side of a steep hill, almost hidden by natural greenery. A steep staircase takes you up the hill to your cabin. Be prepared for walking up steps – a good exercise for me after my open-heart surgery 8 months before. The thatch-covered, half-open-sided dining room faces the Caribbean Sea and a private sandy beach, waves crashing on the shore. The beach is walkable. The sea is swimmable. While the menus aren’t extensive, the food is good with more than enough variety to suit anyone’s appetite. Service is very friendly. The whole environment is very relaxing. If you want a change in dining, there’s lots of good restaurants a short taxi-ride away. After breakfast, I usually spent a lot of time in the thatched bar/lounge assembling a ¼-scale model building – one of my hobbies. With the breeze blowing through the open sides, protected from the sun by the thatched roof, I was able to focus on my project, pausing periodically to get a drink or to read of few more pages from my book. Time went by very slowly, the way I wanted it to be. Evenings were very pleasant, the waves crashing on the shore, the light of the sail boats near shore, cruise ships sailing in to St George’s, freighters going on to their next port of call. The absence of the hustle and bustle of civilization added to the serenity of the moment. Our objectives were to chill out, soak up the sun, enjoy the peace and tranquility of the moment, spend some quality time with ma belle femme … and do lots of nothing. Objectives achieved.

Lovely, classy, peaceful spot

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Lovely setting, beautiful and not crowded beach, helpful & pleasant staff, and excellent food. Spacious, well-laid out bungalows. Note: it’s hilly, except for one beachfront bungalow. Small and quiet spot on the west coast. Easy access from the airport and to south coast attractions such as Grande Anse beach and St. George.

Incredibly peaceful stay on the most beautiful stretch of beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here as a couple in cottage 12 for 4 nights. We loved the room, the beach & the staff particularly. Our cottage was up 3 flights of steps (maybe 40-50 steps - good for the glutes!) We enjoyed the breakfasts, the free yoga, the rum punches, and reading & chilling in the comfy loungers in the beach most of all.

Truly Paradise, Worth Every Cent.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My husband and I just returned from a 6 day stay in Laluna and I am so sad to be home now! This hotel is stunning. The property is immaculate, beautifully landscaped. Upon arrival, my brain just went blank and I felt so zen. We were given some rum punch while watching the sunset. We were brought to our room soon after to settle in. The photos are completely accurate, if anything, they don't do it enough justice. There is no bad view on this entire property. We had a fantastic trip. The only thing better than the stay itself were the people. The manager was wonderful, kind, and helpful. All the bartenders were fun and talented. The wait staff was fantastic and courteous, the cleaning people were thorough and so quick! We spent our days poolside with drinks listening to music and the waves. We went to the restaurant on the property every morning for breakfast and many nights for dinner. I literally didn't get a single mosquito bite or bug bite the entire stay. We also didn't have a single bug in the room. I was so impressed by that! The ONLY cons were: 1) The menu did get a little redundant and we found ourselves needing to leave for different types of cuisine. I like to explore new countries but I would have preferred the hotel menu be lengthier or have specials/ various changes to keep things fresh as well as offer staples. 2) I would have liked to have either a much larger mini fridge or a separate one so we could store leftovers and other snacks we chose to buy/bring. 3) Not very important at all but our room didn't have a TV. We assumed we would have one based on some of the other rooms but we did not. It wasn't a huge deal but at night, we do like to put the tv on or would have liked to plug in a firestick or something. 4) It is hard to reserve sun loungers and an umbrella on the property in general. We tried going at 9AM, 12PM, 2PM, it didn't matter. Other guests would arrive and put their belongings on the chairs all day. We really could only get loungers directly in the sun or sit under the covered bar/outdoor space. Again, it wouldn't affect my decision to return at all. I really can't say enough good things. We will definitely be back and look forward to returning.

Laluna is paradise! From the moment we stepped on the property until the unfortunate day that we had to go home, the staff made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding and plentiful. The beach was plenty for four weary souls who wanted to disappear from regular life. The deck with it oversize chairs and couches was perfect for getting to know new people or play games, talk…just relax. The suites were fabulous and the bed was a dream. We returned to our normal lives rejuvenated and happy. Truly the perfect place for a vacation!
