Fun Easter Visit with rabbit and mimosas! After San Francisco and sandwiched between Yosemite and then back to Big Sur, Napa was a fun break and the quaint room designs and location, although quirky seemed to work. Burned a ton of wood and drank way too much wine in the room and deck, so my review might be somewhat biased! Two night stay was perfect, otherwise would probably need a liver transplant in the near future. Sure there might be better and newer...but sure was fun and different. Loved the view as you can see in pictures. Not sure I would have liked any of the other rooms, though. Rabbit was cool for easter...beautiful grounds!

So Charlie is in the process of renovating this place. Based on staying at the other properties including the Meadowood this is the best in St Helena. The good rooms are spacious ,look over the vineyards and have a spa. They are a bit dark. The dining room needs a makeover but the food is super. The pool is ordinary.

A group of our friends decided to make a trip to the wine country. We were late making reservations so many of the hotels we had previously stayed at were booked. However, the Harvest Inn was available. That should have been our first clue. The rooms were $1000 a night. We don't normally spend that for a hotel but it boasted of an award winning chef restaurant on site, renovated rooms, spa, etc. My husband and I actually stayed here in 1992 on our honeymoon. When we heard it had been updated we were excited to return. The updates included a somewhat renovated bathroom. I'm pretty certain the tub and toilet were the same from 1992. We had a lovely view of the winery. The room was large and had a fireplace. However, there was no wood for the fireplace and the room smelled of smoke. The bed was comfy but the furniture and decor was very dated. The breakfast included with the room was very good but was the same scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes with a variety of bread for toast every day of our visit. No change in the choices at all. The fresh fruit consisted of whole apples and bananas. The "spa" was 3 min

Just returned after a 4 night stay ... PROS: great location to wineries and restaurants , vineyard view, room was spacious and clean with a beautiful vineyard view .... that's it !!! CONS: zero hospitality ... upon arrival... front desk did not offer information unless they were specifically asked . Our room was on the 2nd floor .. not even asked if we needed luggage assistance . The grounds are unkept , the pool and hot tub dirty, pool area not attended to.(Motel 6 probably has a cleaner pool area). The free breakfast is an embarrassment .... tables aren't set, coffee isn't poured by server (but they have a tip folio on the table !) scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes everyday. Nothing special and this is a Charlie Palmer restaurant? ! .. also had a lunch and dinner at the Harvest Inn ... not impressed ... Check out was the same as Check in. We were simply told to leave the keys in the room and we would be set. There was no " did you enjoy your stay " or " can we help you with your luggage " .... oh. and I forgot to mention ... We paid $3K for 4 nights not $300. We will not be back .. Our 2nd part of our week was spent in Sonoma at MacArthur Place- a wonderful and excellent place in all aspects...

The Vineyard facing rooms have a great outlook and ours was large and pretty comfortable The bathroom and deck area are a bit disappointing somewhat old and tired Comfortable bed and generally well appointed room Nice heated pool and hot tub but somewhat neglected- no towels sometimes and tub a bit grotty Small but good gym again not well looked after no towels etc at times Restaurant and bar are delightful lunch and dinner are superbly done Breakfast though is disappointing no a la carte just bacon scrambled and browns served hot Staff in hotel and bar friendly and fun Pretty good overall but could do with some investment on updating rooms and more attention to the the facility
