Ha! Actually all 3 stays this year have been perfect. Yes, we just went for the 3rd time in the past year. We love it that much. As someone who prefers to try new things, I just keep booking here because the location is so perfect (St. Helena is the center of the valley so getting around is just faster). It's on a vineyard so the views are fabulous year-round. The staff is always very friendly with big smiles and always offering to help with anything. Oddly, this last stay we found they don't let you light your own fireplace. But they were happy to send someone to do that quickly for us. Happy to help with bags. Happy to take you to the restaurant or to tastings. This time we booked the cheapest room to see if it was just as nice and it was just fine. Maybe the bed was a little too soft. One thing we didn't like was finding our door not being fully closed after housekeeping came through. That's unacceptable. If that ever happens again, it'll be a show stopper to returning. We also appreciated that they sent us a bottle of champagne to recognize my birthday and that we have been there before. Very nice! The grounds are still beautiful and this is the 1st time we noticed one of the trees is an orange tree. Tall redwoods are all over the place. Nice sculptures, ponds, landscaping. Breakfast is always great and I'd say that just so long as they keep making that bacon. They used to alternate bacon recipes each day, but this last time it was the same - either way it's simply outstanding.

Harvest Inn has beautiful grounds, and impressive bar and check-in lobby. Unfortunately, that’s about all the nice things we can say about that place. The room felt like it was in a roadside motel that hasn’t been remodeled for a decade or more, fireplace spewed smoke inside the room, carpet and couch were dirty and old, room was noisy (heat outside, ice machine, you could hear people walking outside-that’s how thin the walls were). Breakfast was extremely limited-hot options included eggs, bacon and potatoes-that’s it! If you think about a place that is “by Charlie Palmer”, who is a chef, you’d think at least the food would have been awesome and plentiful-it was another disappointment. People were nice though, and again, the views are gorgeous overlooking vast vineyard with mountains in the background. We were gravely disappointed in what that place had to offer for almost the same price point as other 5-star hotels around the world. I would not recommend this place.

This is a lovely resort tucked away in the hills of the wine country. The service and accommodations were lovely. The fireplaces in the rooms were a lovely touch. The location is perfect for access to some of the loveliest wineries in town.

We have stayed at this hotel for years. This was the first time staying there since it's been By Charlie Palmer. The rooms are well decorated, cozy and warm, despite the fact that they have tried to make it up to date by painting all the warm wood beams white. We have stayed at all levels of rooms, huge suites to the ones close to the parking lot. Rest assured, even the ones by the parking lot are great. You do not get that worst room in the place feeling at all. The art throughout the grounds are beautiful and interesting. We were looking forward to the restaurant, however, we were disappointed. A Friday night and it was very empty. The locals must have know something we didn't. Service was fine, the food unimpressive. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend your money here. Breakfast, which is included, was average. Also, they no longer offer complimentary wine in the room. When I asked about that, I was told they only supply it to return customers who ask about it. They were very happy to bring me a small bottle of wine. I have stayed at all types and price levels in the area; most offer the wine, which is a nice touch in the "wine country".
