Hotel and Wedding Service overlooking the Ocean

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had an enjoyable stay and a wonderful wedding all organised by the amazing Sophia Butcher and her lovely team. I could have never imagined that getting married (26 .4.24) could be so stress free. Sophia was highly efficient in guiding us of the process and arranging bookings for us and was very responsive whilst we were in the UK and when we arrived. We swam in the morning, had a light lunch and then I went off to the spa where the stylist got exactly the look that I wanted with my very difficult hair !! The beach area was decorated and we had a delicious cake and champagne included in the package followed by dinner by the ocean. Just the two of us went so Sophia and Kathy kindly witnessed for us. If you want a stress free , simplistic but tasteful wedding or retaking of vows then look at the services they offer. The backdrop of the ocean is gorgeous and we got a beautiful sunset too. We also enjoyed and were moved by the ceremony by the Rev Lowe. We had a lovely room with an ocean view of which was cleaned and maintained nicely during our stay. We ate a few evenings in the hotel and had lovely meals. We had breakfast everyday of numerous choices and without fail were greeted by the ladies on the egg station with great energy and smiles -such a great bunch. We found that on the odd occasion that some members waitressing were not smiling if you take the time to engage and talk be interested there was an instant change and with that in mind only encountered friendliness back and great service. There were also some particular members that radiated warmth just wish I could remember all their names but Natalie was one of them. The gentleman in the Piano bar and Leron on reception were also very pleasant and helpful. The location short walk to bars and other restaurants was great. My reasoning for the high rating is all above comments and considering the price of what we paid for being a mere fraction compared to neighbouring hotels . That is a very key factor that I think many reviews are forgetting. Great time and were very sad to leave.

It is Barbados, Keep your expectations at proper level

First, remember that it is Barbados. It’s hot. The only place on this property that has air conditioning is the restaurant, Enid and your room. Both struggle to keep up. Eating dinner at the other restaurant, Sunset, was unbearable. Incredibly hot, with no air movement at all. Always double check your restaurant reservations. As you can imagine, the Enid is quite busy due to having air conditioning. Twice we went there, with reservations, to be told that we had booked at Sunset. Even on our checkin packet it clearly said we had a reservation at Enid, but was told no it was at Sunset. They made the reservation for us and wrote it on our packet. Stand your ground and do not accept them pushing you to the oven of a place called Sunset. Now, the biggest negative is by far the food. The specialty restaurant, Enid, has a set menu with 4 entrees each night. Some of the worst food ever. Weird combo of food, not prepared well, and you wait forever. With only four options, and clearly the food was either packaged or cooked yesterday, why does it take 45 minutes to get served, and another 45 minutes to get dessert. Our meal was 2 1/2 hours for premade food. Very disappointing that they don’t even try. It’s just not good. We ordered a delivered pizza one night and it was the best food we had our entire stay. Overall this is a 3 star place. Set your expectations accordingly. If you are looking for the Four Seasons, this is not it. Enjoy the sun, the pools are decent and you are on vacation.

Loved every minute, staying at The Club

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This resort is fabulous. Four women from the UK who went for 10 days in March. There is everything you need for a great holiday. Let's start with the highlights: The staff are brilliant. Really happy to help, with a great sense of humour. Big shout out to Kareena on the cocktail bar by the sea. The manager was fab, very helpful and. the lady who seemed like a restaurant manager with light short hair (sorry I cannot remember your name) Pools are lovely, although it is a bit of a race to get the beds in the morning. It made us get up early and enjoy the day. The food is great. Loads of variety, really tasty and we all came back a good few pounds heavier. Only two restaurants, but we really enjoyed the food. The drinks are great. Good named spirits and they are well made if you like the cocktails. The cocktail bar by the sea is great for drinks at the start of the night. Our room was a superior garden room and we could not fault it. The air con was great - you really do need it. Really big room with everything you need including safe, big balcony and kettle, coffee machine. The gym was fab and I know not everyone wants to do exercise on holiday. However, we quite like to do some in the morning so we can eat and drink more!!!!! Treadmills, spinning bikes and plenty of weight machines. All air conditioned, plenty of water. We enjoyed the entertainment, even if some of the singers thought that everyone wants to hear slow songs at the start of the night. If I hear another version of 'Hello' by Lionel Ritchie or 'One Love'!!! Only joking. People in reception were very accommodating and helpful. Lots of monkeys pass through each day, fab to see them. We met some lovely people there and just to sum up, we have all booked again for March next year. Cannot wait. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Rude staff, beautiful location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This was our first trip to Barbados, and certainly not our last! The island was so beautiful and everything we had hoped for. The Club Barbados, on the other hand, was not what we had expected. The property is very small and quaint with gorgeous views of the water. We had an ocean front room and the room was fantastic. It's a shame the staff, and what appeared to be lack of care and consideration ruined this beautiful place. The staff was mostly unfriendly, the front desk was just plain RUDE. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and have never encountered such rude treatment from the staff. We felt like we were bothering them by asking simple questions. There was zero positive interaction with the front desk. The most helpful and friendliest people we encountered were our cab drivers and the rental car associate, not affiliated with the resort. The food was good, no complaints. The bar ran out of things daily. I was able to order a mojito one day out of 5 days. We could deal with that, no problem. The rudeness of the staff was very disheartening. The staff is definitely what will prevent us from returning to the Club Barbados and that's a shame.

Fantastic Hotel- Great Location.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Just returned from a 7 night holiday. This was our second time in Barbados but first at this hotel. There are some flabbergasting negative reviews on this place and we did come with a little apprehension but also an open mind as we do every time we travel. I can honestly say we had a fabulous time and could not find fault. In fact I sat one day and re read some of the nasty reviews, I had a little titter about what some people found ‘awful or terrible’ about the hotel. I mean how awful must it be to actually have to ‘get up and get your own drinks’? Or have to walk up some stairs everyday to your room? Or have to get your feet wet to get to the beach…. I mean come on??? We didn’t see any miserable staff because we always greeted them and made them feel like they were doing us a great service and enquired about their day. Perhaps people who did encounter miserable staff were the people who are always moaning and have too high expectations. So if you want to be waited on and treated like royalty you should go next door and pay Sandy Lane prices for Sandy Lane Service! This is a lovely hotel, relaxed, friendly staff, excellent location. Food was always fresh and cooked to perfection and the cocktails were divine! The rooms are comfortable and cleaned everyday, we were lucky enough to have a beachfront loft room that enabled us to hear the ocean and see the beautiful sunsets from our window. Caroline and her staff made us feel very welcome and to be approached by Caroline more than once to ask if everything was ok was very personal to us and she was genuinely appreciative of the praise for her work because if I had to read some of the things people moan about I’d be pretty disheartened. I would encourage anyone to stay at this hotel and before you write your review or criticise something try adapting to your new environment because after all don’t you go on holiday for a ‘change’ something a little different from home? Feel lucky and fortunate that you are able to afford to travel to such destinations and look for positives in everything. What’s written on here can really put people off but I bet you go home and tell your family and friends what a wonderful time you’ve had! It’s great value for money and worth booking if in any doubt you won’t be disappointed.
