About the Hotel

Owned by native Antiguans, the 30 cottages at Cocos Hotel roost on a cliff and overlook iridescently clear waters, where deep blues and minty greens shimmer in streaks on the horizon. The best way to enjoy the view is swinging in a hammock suspended from the roof of each cottage’s rustic terrace, or drifting to sleep on the netting-enveloped princess bed. Chef Pam Clay's West Indian take on Tuscan cuisine attracts a local following.

Fantastic hotel with great staff in a dreamy location

We just returned from Cocos Hotel a couple of weeks ago and we're dying to go back. We spent 8 nights at this stunning property and loved every minute. Property The property is compact and everything is only a short walk away. The hotel is on a cliff, so depending on the location of your cottage you might get a complimentary leg workout, but it's not overly strenuous for the average person. The scenery is beautiful with lots of greenery and the views are stunning. Beach and pool The two beaches are absolutely stunning. We preferred Jolly Beach as it's a bit quieter. Both beaches are clean and the sun loungers are comfortable. We didn't really use the pool, but the location is nice and the big kabana style loungers are nice. The pool is being refurbished at the moment. Accommodation We found our cottage (#1) to be a good size for two people. It's equipped with a coffee machine, mini fridge, safe and kettle. The bed was super comfy and we loved the outdoor shower. It is rustic and could do with a lick of paint in some places, but we liked that it felt authentic. Restaurant My husband is a picky eater, but he had something different every day and was never disappointed. I will forever try to recreate the grilled snapper. The kitchen is happy to accommodate requests and we found the waiting staff super friendly and attentive. Staff The staff is SO friendly. We've been to other places in the Caribbean before where the service seemed to depend on the tip you gave. Antigua in general is not like that at all. At Cocos, we found everybody, from groundspeople to front of house, incredibly warm and genuine. Kris helped us sort out an alternative trip when our original excursion (not booked via the hotel) got cancelled, plus he was able to recommend a hiking company who I ended up going on 3 hikes with as I loved it so much. We don't usually go back to the same places, but my husband and I both said that we'd go back to Cocos (and Antigua) in a heartbeat. It truly was one of the best holidays we've had.

Good location, friendly staff and great food. Communication internally was at times in consistent with a lack of urgency unless we prompted a few times. Watch out for jet ski vendors on the beach! They do not work for COCOs and will claim to, and often are friendly with staff which presents a guise for being mislead. Book everything through the hotel where you can as they were helpful most of the time.

We will be back!

Cocos EXCEEDED our expectations by far! From the lovely cottages, to the fabulous food, and lovely beaches, we wanted for nothing! For our 70th birthday celebration, we chose the Sunset View cottage and it was perfect. All requests pre-check-in were met. We are both consider quality food very important. Meals at Cocos were varied and cooked to perfection for us (we did have 1 breakfast we didn’t care for, but we were late sitting down). Compliments to the chef for consistently delicious meals! We are already in the process of booking again. Are there 10 star ratings?! If so, Cocos would get that rating from us.

Wonderful romantic anniversary stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My husband and I just got back from our 5 year anniversary trip to Cocos. It was absolutely wonderful. It was such an intimate experience with only a small number of rooms and guests. This allows you to get to know everyone, and the staff to get to know you and really provide awesome service. The meals are all beautifully plated and made to order with daily specials, local dishes, and a different dinner menu every night of the week. The manager, Kris, was very nice and helpful. He helped us pick out excursions and book the floating canapes for our room (absolutely must do if you have a pool room). On our anniversary, they had a special dinner table set up for us which was so thoughtful! We enjoyed all the different nightly entertainment, especially Thursday, and the bartender Mario is the life of the party! The two beaches that the resort is situated between are both so beautiful and hard to choose a favorite. They each have a bar but the Valley Church beach side has the beach grill for food which was great! The beaches are both public though and the vendors can be a bit on the obnoxious side so beware of that and be prepared to shut them down. We chose to book only through the hotel for anything we did. We loved our bay view pool room (room 3) and the outdoor shower is awesome. However, our neighbors had the same type of room but a different layout with a larger, sunnier deck, different bathroom layout, and a shower with a view of the ocean while ours was enclosed. Not sure if thats just luck of the draw or what. The bay view pool cottages are also the closest to the main restaurant area so its the least walking for that. Definitely be aware that there can be some hill walking- we were panting at times so I can't imagine how the older couples felt! There were a couple minor issues with people having water running out in the morning but the staff quickly resolved it and the water came right back on. I'm fully aware that this is a small island with different resources and was totally understanding of that, but it may be a good idea to make the guests a little more aware of water conservation. Speaking of water, there were water jug dispensers and ice boxes all throughout the property, which we all really appreciated. We stayed 8 nights and really enjoyed it! I was worried my husband would get bored but the days flew by and we had so much fun. There was a great mix of newlyweds and seasoned couples and we made a lot of great friends and memories.
