Cocos Hotel in Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda

Owned by native Antiguans, the 30 cottages at Cocos Hotel roost on a cliff and overlook iridescently clear waters, where deep blues and minty greens shimmer in streaks on the horizon. The best way to enjoy the view is swinging in a hammock suspended from the roof of each cottage’s rustic terrace, or drifting to sleep on the netting-enveloped princess bed. Chef Pam Clay's West Indian take on Tuscan cuisine attracts a local following.

Journey by boat to Cade's Reef to snorkel among manta rays, spiny lobsters and neon-colored tropical fish. Return to a lounge chair on a secluded beach and let the tide roll over your feet. Sip on a rum and Coke from your cottage’s stocked minibar. At an oceanfront table lit by candles, dine on grilled strawberry red snapper in a tomato Creole sauce.

We had another great stay at Cocos, warm welcome from the lovely staff! Sadly cut short by hurricane Irma, but the way it was handled was fantastic. We were kept well informed by the management - contingency plans were made well before Irma struck, so staff and guests were as safe as possible. It certainly wouldn't stop us from returning, such an idyllic setting! Thanks to all of you .......

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Antigua ( cut short by Hurricane Irma unfortunately) hasnt put us off returning, this resort is made by the people who work there it is very rustic and you wont be able to wear heels for your whole trip ( I managed wedges one night and had to take them off to return to room) but it is more than made up for by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff - hope that never changes. Food is excellent too and nothing is too much trouble for anybody.

Omg!!! The staff here were soooooo welcoming!! They make you feel so special as if your the only person there. My boyfriend & I enjoyed ourselves. The food was amazing. No buffet style but a prefixe menu with PLENTY of options. You can choose as much or as little as you would like. The only down part to the hotel is that if you don't like exercising you will then. Some of the cottages were way up on the top it's a continuos incline. My body got used to it after the first /second day lol! The room doesn't have a T.V, it's gives you that time to bond with your significant other which is a PLUS!! Amazing Views! All In All we had a great time.

Myself and my husband just returned from our honeymoon from cocos. We stayed in room 5 and it was paradise. Total paradise it's the only word to describe the whole place. Hotel itself: Ok so I read a lot of reviews and like anyone had concerns about them and here are my views on the negative points people picked up on (baring in mind I am a total snob): Outdated - the hotel is in no way outdated. Simple. If you want a modern hotel go to a built up place. But I can guarantee you will not have a paradise feeling you have here. Food - I am fussy and I am saying the food couldn't have been more tasty. 5* food breakfast lunch and dinner. Security/people selling on beach - our beach isn't totally private, however, there was hardly any people along the whole beach! We are at the end of the beach and have our own clear area which not one person who was not part of the hotel came on to. One person tried to sell us a jet ski, we said no and he left! Did not annoy us in any way and we were planning on going on them anyway. Walk to the rooms - yes of course there is a walk to the rooms, you have booked a holiday on a cliff to have the views you want, what do you expect? An elevator?! We stayed there a few nights and literally had the best time. Food, Akil on the beach bar, our room, the list is endless it was just perfect I do not have one fault. Now we unfortunately were here during hurricane Irma struck. Myself and my husband still are in shock at how the hotel dealt with the situation. They evacuated us to another hotel to keep us safe organising the whole thing. They gave us enough food and drink to last forever. The staff gave up going home to their families to stay with us 24/7 to keep us safe. They kept us continually informed and did all they could to get us home to the uk. There are no words to describe how grateful we are they kept us safe. We felt like a big family out there and we miss them! We are already currently trying to plan to return to have our real honeymoon early next year and pray we can do so. Hope to see you guys soon! ā¤ Kate and jake xxxxx
