About the Hotel

Owned by native Antiguans, the 30 cottages at Cocos Hotel roost on a cliff and overlook iridescently clear waters, where deep blues and minty greens shimmer in streaks on the horizon. The best way to enjoy the view is swinging in a hammock suspended from the roof of each cottage’s rustic terrace, or drifting to sleep on the netting-enveloped princess bed. Chef Pam Clay's West Indian take on Tuscan cuisine attracts a local following.

Reviews for Cocos Hotel

A great Caribbean holiday, lovely vibe and not too busy.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

Cocos hotel sits on a headland with a beach on either side. The accommodation consists of individual cottages. The resort is specifically couples only and is all inclusive. The main eating and drinking area is situated on the sea front with the cottages scattered throughout the headland. N.B. Access to some cottages may require a steep climb, so you need to be reasonably mobile. Their promotional videos do cover this. The dining for all meals is from a menu which changes each day throughout the week. There was plenty of choice for us, despite being a bit picky. The drinks are mostly premium brands however the choice of gin (for me) was limited. The staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient, couldn't have asked for more. The mini bar in your room is stocked with a small amount of alcoholic and soft drinks which you can select prior to arrival. It is supposed to be stocked every day (2 of each item of soft drinks and a small bottle of the alcoholic ones), but this doesn't always happen. A gentle reminder was required on one occasion. Our cottage was a sunset view with outdoor shower (screened). Some cottages have infinity plunge pools (extra cost). We watched the sunset every night (around 18:30 in early May). We had two trips booked, a scenic tour of the island (2 couples in a minivan with driver) and a lobster lunch cruise with snorkelling and swimming stops. These were both excellent. N.B. There is another hotel/resort situated near Coco, called Cocobay. This caused some confusion for the scenic tour driver, however Cocos staff (duty manager (Kriss) sorted it all out, He even clarified our cruise pick up location which was on the beach at Cocos. There was entertainment every night from about 2000 to 2200 hours and after that the place pretty much shut up shop. This is not a party all night resort, which suited us fine. The two beaches at the resort were never too busy. There is access to snacks and drinks from each beach. Towels are provided free of charge. The beaches are sheltered and ideal for cooling off. The temperature in early May was about 29 C, feeling like high 30's some days. Check out is at 12 noon, however you can have access to all the facilities until your flight. Tipping didn't appear to be the norm, however I did. 1 to 2 US dollars at a time. We also left 2 dollars a day for the room attendant. We loved the laid back vibe, the friendly staff and the the fact that it never felt too busy. A special mention again to Kris, one of the duty managers and Mario (super) at the bar always with a smile and excellent service. We certainly got a bit fitter with the climbs to and from our cottage. Overall a great Caribbean holiday. Thank you Cocos.

Hotel staff in all departments excellent. Cannot do enough for you and so friendly. Food very good. Quiet relaxing hotel just for couples. Not a hotel if you have mobility issues. Very enjoyable holiday.

Disappointing Experience; Not Up To Previous Standards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Disappointing. Facilities and staff in decline from previous stay. The entire place feels tired and the staff is going through the motions. Amazing location and the views are out of this world. Unfortunately the beach grounds and staff service don’t meet the standards of a 4* rusty chic concept. We stayed here 3 years ago and there has been noticeable decline in the grounds. Shoddy construction/repair, missing paint, poor (or lack thereof) beach maintenance. Your beachside bar shouldn’t be running out of top shelf liquor at 11AM, nor should the beachside grill not have 60% of your main entrees (or sides) at 12:15 PM. These are simple and fixable ‘misses’ that no one seems to care about with any urgency. Hard to tell if they’re understaffed due to the indifference to the guest’s needs. Broken down beach furniture, dilapidated palapas and accumulated beach debris is not something you’d expect for a resort charging over $800/night. Rusty protruding nails on the lounges (many of them) and unsafe beach walkways is something facilities staff could *easily* fix, but there’s no one out there to communicate with, The place is sadly in need of a refresh and ownership *needs* to be aware this is not the same place we visited a few years ago. Keyonna Beach (their sister resort) doesn’t seem to have these problems. Too much on management’s plate? We love the island and we adore the people — so we will definitely return. Sadly, it likely won’t be to Cocos. It’s a shame, too. Because those sunset views with the ships of Jolly Harbor in view… are simply incredible. They’re sitting on a gold mine of spectacular location and topography. Don’t waste it, Cocos! Do better. There is ‘island time’ and then there is

Honeymoon at Cocos

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Cocos for our honeymoon. The views and beaches are even more beautiful in person. Staff was very friendly and received quick service. Dinner menu changed each night so there was a good variety and food was very good! Would recommend
