Cocos Hotel in Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda

Owned by native Antiguans, the 30 cottages at Cocos Hotel roost on a cliff and overlook iridescently clear waters, where deep blues and minty greens shimmer in streaks on the horizon. The best way to enjoy the view is swinging in a hammock suspended from the roof of each cottage’s rustic terrace, or drifting to sleep on the netting-enveloped princess bed. Chef Pam Clay's West Indian take on Tuscan cuisine attracts a local following.

Journey by boat to Cade's Reef to snorkel among manta rays, spiny lobsters and neon-colored tropical fish. Return to a lounge chair on a secluded beach and let the tide roll over your feet. Sip on a rum and Coke from your cottage’s stocked minibar. At an oceanfront table lit by candles, dine on grilled strawberry red snapper in a tomato Creole sauce.

The staff at this hotel were all outstanding. The beaches are lovely. One has a very steep slope into the ocean...at step 3 I was in over my head. Some reviewers have complained about insects. We were given spray cans of both Raid and Off. We had no need of either. The bed came with a canopy of mosquito netting. We never used it. Our cottage was up on the hill which gave us great views but meant that we did develop calf muscle over the week. Ask for a lower altitude cabin if you aren't keen to climb a lot! Food was excellent quality, plentiful and truly varied. The grounds are beautiful and flowers in February were everywhere. The resort has cats which are very well behaved. Staff didn't seem to mind patrons feeding them. We had two complaints. The first is not one the hotel has any control over, and that is its proximity to a loud bar along the bay that pounds out the music often until 1:00 am. It made sleep difficult. Our second complaint is that there was no place in the room to read in the evening, no reading lamp and no comfortable chairs. Another reviewer complained about the beds. We found ours to be excellent, neither too hard nor too soft..rather Goldilocks!

Stunning wood houses on the side of a hill, just on sea front. Very happy staffers with nice restaurant and two bars. Two beach to choose every days, both with hotel amenities. I really enjoyed my stay here!

Me and my husband have just returned from an incredible 2 week stay at Cocos. We wanted a small friendly relaxing hotel as opposed to a big run of the mill hotel. Cocos went above and beyond our expectations and is a truly magical place. We were greeted by a rum punch and checked in super quickly. From walking through the grounds to our cottage we were instantly amazed. Cocos feels like a tropical island paradise. We stayed in premium cottage number 27 and the views were out of this world. The room was so spacious with a huge bed. The hammock on the balcony is just fantastic and the outside shower is perfection. Every morning around 8 birds greeted me for biscuits. The hotel grounds are so lush and tropical and the sound of the waves and frogs just add to the carribean feel. The two beaches are very good. The jolly beach side has sand so soft like velvet. The church valley beach was our favourite as it was a tad quieter. Both beaches have a bar and you can sit back and relax whilst you are offered cocktails throughout the day. Stephen at the Valley Church side was so friendly and attentive! All staff were incredibly friendly and got to know you personally and went out of their way to make your stay personal and enjoyable. We had fun dancing on several nights and at the beach party on Thursday. The food was fantastic. We stayed at a 5 star resort in the Maldives and the food at Cocos totally blew the Maldives out of the water. Every meal was delicious and the menu at dinner always changed. The service is fantastic and our wine glass was never empty! You will not be disappointed if you book Cocos. We met several guests who have been coming for years and we are already planning our return next year. If you want a personal relaxing time and carribean charm book Cocos! Thank you to everyone who made our stay so great. We will be back.

We have just returned from the most amazing holiday at coco hotel Antigua. From the start the staff made us feel so welcome and this stayed the same for the rest of the trip. We were asked to nominate our favourite staff member but I couldn’t do this as they were all lovely and welcoming. Our room was heaven with romantic four poster bed overlooking the sea with front row room of the sunset and with a flower framed outside shower. The restaurant was fab with delicious food that changed each night, as did the cocktails. The only thing missing was a sunset bar but they are already building this (bizarrely quietly and no disturbance). It will be lovely I don’t normally do reviews but needed to for coco hotel. Go...

My wife and I recently spent a week at Cocos and cannot say enough about the hospitality and enjoyment that we had on our trip. From the initial arrival to the departure our expectations were exceeded at every level. We stayed in one of the sunset cottages overlooking Valley Church beach. The sunsets are magnificent from the beach or from the plunge pools on that side of the resort. The room provided all of our needs and a natural sound machine from the ocean waves lulled us to sleep each evening. Meals in the restaurant were served a la carte. Dinner typically consisted of 3 options per course. Breakfast and lunch were served from a more static menu; however, the daily specials were fantastic. All meals were well prepared and well constructed. One night of the week was a more traditional buffet that served fresh grilled meats and a large selection of salads and side dishes. Wine pairings and cocktails were also enjoyable. The resort is small and carries a family-style approach that made us feel at home during our stay. We no doubt will return to visit in the near future.
