Belmond La Samanna

This was our third time visiting La Samanna and each time we leave feeling incredibly relaxed, rejuvinated and blessed to have gotten time on the island and at the resort. La Samanna is truly a gem of a location with a sprawling pristine beach. The restaurants on property are incredible and range from classic beach club italian to upscale french. The overlook at the lobby bar is world class. The staff is very attentive and they truly go out of their way to make the stay memorable and comfortable.

While at la semanna, they failed to tag one of our bags. This led to the bag being placed in another room and then it was never recovered. We were compensated for the value of the items lost but overall it felt like there was no accountability for the lack in procedures that this could even happen. This is a 5 star property and while the specific product costs were replaced , the inconvenience of the lost items and now replacing those items was not accounted for.

Unfortunately La Samana St martin was a BIG disappointment to me & my family. The hotel pricing is the same pricing as 5 star hotels in St Barts but the service is far inferior. All 5 star hotels in St Barts offer complimentary transfer to & from arrival ports. La Samana has turned the airport transfer into a profit center .They charge $100 for a regular transfer . Meanwhile they contract the work to local drivers for $50 . The concierge is also involved in taking advantage of the guest. Anything they arrange for you comes with a kick back or up charge . The property itself is infested with mosquitos . The hotel rooms smell and are infested with bugs. Both TVs in my room where broken The restaurants are not very kids friendly. The restaurant staff are not very receptive to dietary request . Me & my wife ordered a Snapper for 2. My wife specified she is diary intolerant . Fish came out drenched with butter. I reached out numerous times to hotel management to identify the issues that existed but unfortunately the gave me lip service . I highly suggest avoiding to stay @ this property . It is an embarrassment to The Belmond brand & LVMH

Beach is absolutely beautiful, and staff were great despite being seemingly shorthanded. On service, Simon was a wonderful and kind butler - very thoughtful. Several members of the wellness team including Marlisha, Marianne, and Ronan are wonderful too. Restaurants are generally great, though L'Oursin could use some food refinements.

Wonderful resort! We enjoyed the on property restaurants, pool and beach. Only 10 min from the airport. Safe and friendly island!
