Belmond La Samanna

I’ve been coming to St. Martin for nearly 15 years, and over the years I’ve had the pleasure of staying at La Samanna many times. Yet somehow, this most recent visit reminded me why it remains one of my favorite places in the world. My stay began in one of the beachfront one-bedroom suites, and it was absolute perfection—beautiful, cozy, comfortable, and just steps from the sea. After a long day of travel, I ordered room service and found myself enjoying what felt less like a hotel meal and more like a special dining experience. Later, I hosted a group of friends in one of the villas, and the experience was equally exceptional. There were five of us, and somehow the villa managed to feel both luxurious and deeply personal. It felt like home. What truly sets La Samanna apart, however, is the people. Every single person we encountered—from the breakfast staff to the beach attendants who thoughtfully brought towels and water, to the restaurant teams, housekeeping, and concierge—was warm, gracious, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality isn’t performative; it’s heartfelt. They anticipate your needs, make you feel cared for, and do so with a generosity of spirit that is increasingly rare. The breakfast is outstanding, the beach bar is wonderful, the accommodations are beautiful, but it is the people who make La Samanna unforgettable. I’ve traveled extensively and stayed in many luxury properties around the world, and I can honestly say that La Samanna offers one of the finest hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. It’s not just five-star luxury—it’s five-star comfort, five-star warmth, and five-star kindness. There is something magical about St. Martin, and there is something truly special about La Samanna. Spent a week here. Nice experience. Beach was great and food was very good. The rooms should be upgraded as they're a little tired. The pools are beautiful but the management has not learned the lesson almost all other 5 star resorts have learned- there should be an adult pool and a family with kids pool. Easy. Instead you get screaming kids. Other Belmonda get it (eg La Residencia for instance). La Samana doesn't.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel and have only positive things to say. The room was very nice and offered direct access and a view of the beautiful beach. The breakfast was excellent, and we highly recommend the Spiaggi restaurant. Finally, the service from the entire staff was truly top-notch. Highly recommended!

The hospitality was outstanding. From the front desk, to housekeeping, to the restaurant staff, to the beach staff. They anticipated our needs before we even knew we needed it. The beautiful room was cleaned twice a day. Delicious food for every taste. The grounds were beautiful. Just walking through the resort was a great de-stressor. A true vacation from start to finish. It spoiled me for all future vacations. I will be comparing all future trips to this one.

My husband and I recently traveled to La Samanna to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary. From the moment we arrived everything was magical. The resort is small and therefore feels intimate and friendly. The staff were AMAZING. I ate the best food I've had in forever and never had that "yecchy" feeling I have in the states because of all the additives and processing. The weather was in the 80's and sunny with fluffy clouds everyday. The turquoise Caribbean was refreshing and curative. The coral beach umbrellas were stunning and the lounges had the most comfortable cushions and pillows....you couldn't help but relax. Our oceanfront suite had a terrific view and was only steps from the beach. Standout staff: Alan, concierge. The gorgeous italian twin sisters at La Spiaggia. Luca, La Spiaggia. Clara, Beach server extraordinaire. Eric, front desk. Romil, bar. Margot and Jean, breakfast. Our housekeepers. There are more- I just can't name them all! La Samanna, we will return!
