Our accommodation overlooked St. Isaac’s square and St. Isaac’s Cathedral. As a guest of the Astoria Hotel, getting lost is impossible as St. Isaac’s Cathedral can be seen from most parts of the city. This is thanks to the building height restrictions in the city of St. Petersburg. The hotel is within walking distance from The Hermitage museum (we did not join a tour and opted for the excellent audio available at 500 roubles per unit. We suggest taking your own audio ear buds or using the audio ear buds from the hop on/hop off tour), a multitude of restaurants offering a range of cuisine and price points, quality souvenir shops, and the hop on/hop off bus and canal tour boats. One would be hard placed to find a better location. What makes this hotel special however, is the hotel team. Our reservation was handled efficiently by Vera, with recommendations and offers of assistance several days prior to our arrival. We were warmly welcomed by the Front Desk team, cared for sincerely by Lydia Leontyeva, Director of Guest Relations, and fussed over by the breakfast team at the Astoria Restaurant (thank you Chef for the freshly baked croissants.) We would not hesitate in recommending Hotel Astoria to friends.

We booked this hotel for its location near The Hermitage, on arrival our room as upgraded and we had a wonderful time, all the staff were very helpful and I would recommend the hotel. The pillow menu (a choice of about five different sorts of pillows) was new to us but very interesting and I’m sure my choice helped me sleep.

My husband and I decided to visit this famous and very old hotel for afternoon High Tea. One can order the traditional English High tea or the Russian High tea. We chose the Russian High tea. Service is exceptional with continual tea or coffee given. Helping your self to sandwiches, crepes plain ordinary, chocolates, pastries with meat inside. A very ornate Hotel...close by is St Isaac’s Cathedral. Still my all time favourite High Tea was at Victoria Falls Zimbabwe.

Beautiful interiors mixing contemporary design, bedding of Russian linen, and Italian marble bathroom fittings — simply elegant! We had a spectacular view onto the golden domes of St. Isaac’s Cathedral, one of St. Petersburg’s most famous landmarks. The food was exceptional and the service impeccable.

I would not even consider staying in another hotel. The accommodations ,the restaurant and the help make it a absolutely perfect hotel. Well located and wonderful car service. If you want to go to ballet be sure to have them book your tickets but do it early.
