The Crane is a spectacular piece of property located on the East Coast of Barbados. The grounds are magnificent with constant attention given to their maintenance, and meticulously kept . The staff - very lovely and attentive. For some reason, we all agreed their male staff was friendlier than the female staff ( that was our perception). The crew down at the beach were awesome!! Very fun, friendly and super accommodating! Accomodations - we stayed in a one bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. Very spacious and clean. Two complaints here. First, the mattress and sheets on the king sized bed were not comfortable. Bed was hard and the sheets were too "crunchy". Need a higher thread count for sure. Also the mattress on the pull-out couch was really old and needed to be replaced. My daughter woke up with a back ache every morning. I would think that a resort of the Crane's stature would have more luxurious mattresses and linens. Second complaint was that the room never really felt cool enough. An AC guy did come and take a look and said that the AC was controlled centrally, the only thing we could control from the room was speed (Hi, Med, Low). He did go back to central location and made an adjustment, but I (particularly) didn't feel much of a difference. Food - overall really good. Beach bar and grill, perfect for what it is. Fun drinks in coconuts! Carriage House was good for lunch. Breakfast at L'Azur good (very pricey $45 BBD a plate). Dinner menu may be too sophisticated for families with children. Zen.... AWESOME!!! - our favorite. D'onofrio's very good! Coming from New York, a little tough dealing with the slow service at all restaurants....I know "Island time"! My fellow New Yorkers, you know what I'm saying! Overall, We really loved The Crane. We would certainly go back!

Just amazing, huge resort with fantastic views, breathtaking pools, spacious rooms don't need to use the air condition as you can sleep with your room open. amazing staff and its value is definitely worth it!!

What you see on the website photos is what you get. Crane resort is an elegant resort off a cliff in Barbados. The grounds and views are beautiful and has a fort like village feel when you are walking the property. My family ate at 3 of the 4 restaurants on the property and were all good. The only reason why I am not giving it a 5 is we had 2 issues. We didn't have enough towels for our room for over 24 hours and it took multiple times calling and eventually being rude to the receptionist to get one towel per family member. There were also no towels at the pool and you had to walk down to the beach to get them. The other issue was the air conditioning was poor. There were no vents in the bathroom so you were hot when you were getting ready. One last note. Crane resort is isolated from the main area of the island. It takes an average of 20 to 30 minutes to get to places. The only thing that was close was the airport.

This property is located at a very strategic spot, much above sea level, making it very scenic with dramatic rock formations along the coastline. Despite being on a raised cliff there's a vast beach on the other side. Beach has plenty of shallow water but the waves tend to get slightly rough, typical of the island; great for boogie boarding! There are multiple pools for those who do not want to be in the ocean. Several rooms come with a plunge pool. Overall maintenance was average, our kitchenette was pretty rundown with missing china and cutlery pieces. Cabinets were hard to open. Hotel decor was very average except for the colonial style furniture in the room. Sun beds and dining set on our patio looked really old and overused. Service was ok, I guess we were there during a busy week so the staff looked overworked. On the upside, food was outstanding at L'Azur and Zen. We didn't try the Sushi but Thai food was extraordinary. There's nothing to do within close proximity of the hotel, most everything is atleast a 30-45 -minute car ride. However, I would still recommend this hotel as there aren't too many great options with a good size beach. Lastly, beach staff was excellent and worked tirelessly. Special kudos to Andrew. And one more thing...they have the best wifi connectivity...we never lost service even once...even on the beach!

Been visiting the Crane regularly since 2003 so may be a wee bit biased ! Our residence is family owned, has an ocean view. Furnished in Colonial style,,clean and airy. Cream sofas and oversized table lamps create a wonderful ambiance. Beds huge and very high to climb in to, one family member was provided with a set of steps ! Crisp white bedding, lots of fluffy towels, robes etc. Bathrooms spacious, marble and glass, walk in shower and whirlpool bath. Kitchen area well equipped with dishwasher, washer dryer and American style fridge Outside, gardens well kept, all swimming pools clean and towels provided. Beach spectacular, elevator down ( and up !!) waves good for body boarding. Sun beds, parasols and towels provided. A good selection of restraunts on site, plus small village shop for essentials. Supermarket a short taxi ride away. Some members have commented on the distance from everywhere but for us personally this is part of the charm of the Crane. Truly a relaxing place to be, can't wait to visit again .
