We arrived with our 8 month old baby during our honeymoon and my husband’s first time to Barbados. Our first room had a plunge pool and was beautiful but it turned out that the air conditioning system was being changed and that resulted in a tremendous amount of noise. The Crane team changed our room swiftly and upgraded us to a suite with a private pool. The staff were friendly and helpful and it felt like staying in a village. Everyday we enjoyed food at the poolside restaurant and beach view restaurant with the exception of one day when the poolside restaurant was overwhelmed and served pretty bad food. Overall the resort and the staff get 5 stars from our family. We would, however, like to encourage the Crane management to comply with the Barbados government regarding friendly beach access for the local people. Colonial times are over.

Strange review but got the room with pool as ordered and staff are friendly but strangely distant. There is no atmosphere whatsoever, you wander round and absolutely nothing happening. Nowhere locally except friendly Marc at MARCO Polo down the road. Probably due to being timeshare or similar. Doesn’t help that Beach is basically closed due to tonnes of seaweed. If you want to see anything or talk with engaging humans, hire a car and go elsewhere, if you want solitude and your own company then stay here, perfect. Thanks but not for us

The hotel was exquisite! Has an amazing view and envions. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant L’azure was fantastic. The atmosphere was elegant. We enjoyed a lot some of the dishes. We were also very pleased with the great service we recieved. The only downfall was the beach due to the seaweed. They need to find an effective way to remove seaweed from the beach. We look forward to visit again soon!

Please don't make the mistake of not reading all the negative reviews before booking. First of all the crane is a beautiful setting with old world charm and we loved our ocean view suite. Our suite was very spacious and absolutely beautiful. However, those are the only pros. Based on my experience this is a 2 star resort at best. If you are seeking a quiet peaceful resort and love pools and are fine NOT laying by a beautiful ocean then this is the place for you. Here are all the cons: After traveling for 9 hours and arriving at the hotel at 3:30pm one would expect their room to be ready. Nope. We had to sit in the hot non air conditioned reception area to wait for our room to be ready. We waited for 1 hour to finally get into our room.  The beach was unfortunately full of seaweed and completely unusable. Huge disappointment although this is not at fault of the hotel. However, I would never book this hotel again just because of the high risk of the seaweed. Please don't fly several hours to just sit by a pool all day.  This is a major flaw for this resort.  Due to the beach being closed because of seaweed, the hotel offered a free shuttle to cocacabanna beach. This whole ordeal included a 45 minute packed shuttle ride to the beach while you are basically sitting on top of each other. You also need to sign up and wear a big blue wrist band like you are attending some type of concert or amusement park.  Also, they provide ONE time frame for the shuttle. 1030-330. We would have appreciated at least two options for those that would like to fully enjoy a long day at the beach. Instead, we only had 4 hours by the time we got there.  Once we got to the beach, all the designated chairs for the crane guests were already taken. Therefore we had to wait again for them to set up more chairs and more umbrellas. Wasn't the point of the sign up sheet to provide head count? All of the guests received a menu and drink service in a timely fashion... except for us. No one came by. We finally saw a waitress and ordered two rum punches and asked for a menu. She never came back with the drinks and never came back at all.  Had to literally chase down a cocacabanna waiter to order food and drinks.  We didn't think it could get worse but it did. The last day we were there they informed us that the shuttle will be going to foul bay Beach down the road and not the beautiful cocacabanna Beach. There are NO facilities at this beach whatsoever. The front desk did let us know that there would be PORTA POTTIES available for us to use. What a complete insult. Due to that we decided to pay for a taxi to dover Beach.  On our second day at the resort we received a call to our room. Not to check in on our stay but it was a sales guy from the sales office trying to sell a property at the crane. When I told him I wasn't interested he said "are you sure?" The LAST thing you want on a beautiful tropical vacation is getting sales calls. Really?  The food is very over priced and we were told upon check in that there is no meal package to add on anymore.  The majority of the concierge staff are friendly expect for one woman. She was OK at first but as soon as we started asking several questions about the different tours it was clear she couldn't wait for us to leave. She couldn't have been bothered and seemed very disinterested and disingenuous. At one point she said to the other concierge woman "we're going to be here for a while".  There is zero poolside service at any of the pools. The adult pool has a bar next to it with no waitstaff. There is one bartender that stands behind the bar and does nothing. Don't expect to relax and be served here.  Housekeeping is very inconsistent. We came back to our hotel room around 330pm and housekeeping had just started to clean our room. Also, there was construction going on in the room above us so even if we wanted to relax after a long day we couldn't.  I wish we had read all the negative reviews before booking here. Stay away from the crane and please book elsewhere.

My wife and I had an amazing time at The Crane Resort! This was our second time staying at this resort. We were celebrating an early 30th Anniversary and chose The Crane to enjoy this memorable occasion. We enjoyed EVERYTHING...from the awesome spacious suite to the delicious food, to the great entertainment, to the beautiful pools and nice private beach, etc. And let us not forget our enjoyable spa by the talented and skilled masseuses, Ivel and Natasha. They were amazing! My wife and I even appreciated our tour around town by our dear driver, Stephen, of Glory Tours. He went above and beyond for us by driving us through the scenic route and explaining about the town, the beautiful flowers, the happening spots and activities, as well as where to go for delicious food by the vendors. If you are ever visiting Barbados, please look Stephen up for a great time and grand tour of the island! He's truly awesome!
