While staying at the Beach Club at the Cloisters, we decided to go over to the Lodge to have breakfast at the Oak Room Bar. It was a beautiful Friday morning and we were greeted promptly at the door and taken to ... the best table in the restaurant! We were seated at the end of the restaurant, over looking both the golf course and the Saint Simons Sound. Quan, our server, brought us the menus and water and then the coffee we ordered. We were just mesmerized by the beautiful view and enjoying the atmosphere. We were able to give Quan our order which was a two egg omelet and the huevos rancheros. The two egg omelet was done very well, just as requested. The rancheros were absolutely terrific. The presentation was wonderful, the flavors great and experience superb. Definitely a place worthy of a return visit.

I've stayed at Sea Island's Cloister Hotel and The Lodge at Sea Island on a number of occasions. The Cloister has the feel of an old European manor with several well-appointed meeting rooms featuring stunning oriental rugs and original artwork. Accommodations and staff will surpass every traveler's expectation of class and comfort. The Lodge is on the south end of this small island and serves as the focal point for several golf courses as well as a world-recognized golf school patronized by many of the PGA Tour headliners. Same gourmet dining, accommodations and obsequious staff as The Cloister in an unusual setting that was selected as a site for a number of world leaders attending a G7 Summit, during the Bush Administration.

We visited the weekend after Thanksgiving. I have never been to this part of the country, and I found it to be gorgeous and romantic. The lodge at sunset was just incredible! There was a gentleman playing bagpipes as we sipped on cocktails outside. It was a little surreal. The lodge itself seems to have few rooms and did not feel crowded. The staff were all nice and helpful. They were so kind to lend us a BMW to drive to the Cloister for dinner. The Cloister, on the other hand, was completely packed. We didn't realize for the holiday weekend this place would be so full of people. They had beautiful Christmas decorations and were taking photos with Santa. The second night we had dinner at the Georgia Room. Wow! It was a treat. An expensive treat...but they did make it very special. I will not forget that experience. I would definitely recommend either hotel, and I would love to come back with the kids. We also explored around town on the bikes borrowed from the hotel, and found it to be such a pretty and peaceful place. I will say that the lodge does have a country club kind of feeling, with a lot of golfers and preppy clientele. We don't really fit into that demographic, but we still enjoyed our stay very much.

We came here in late August 2016--this was our second time in Sea Island and first time staying at the Lodge, and we already booked our next trip to the Lodge for August 2017. We rarely go back to the same destination/hotel, because there are just so many places to go see and visit. However, Sea Island is one of the very few special places that keeps us coming back. The whole place is absolutely stunning, service is top notch, food delicious, great golf courses, and most importantly, both my kids and my husband love it here and call this place their favorite vacation spot. We will be returning here year after year.
