Too bad the inside doesn't match the outside

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed October 25, 2017

Driving in, we were awed by this very grand chateau set in a parklike setting. However, once inside, we realized that this hotel is in serious decline. The carpet was bare, the ceilings showed signs of water damage. In our large and spacious room, the heat was stubbornly on although it was nearly 80 degrees outside, and the furnishings were threadbare. We went for a walk on the grounds and then sat outside for nearly 30 minutes hoping that someone would offer to serve us something from the bar -- no one appeared. Similarly, in the morning, we helped ourselves to breakfast from the buffet and never saw anyone else. We believe that the hotel is soon to be refurbished, and hopefully they will also increase the staff and level of service.

Unusual

Myself and my father stayed at this beautiful chateau for one night, on our way home from Calais to Toulouse. We arrived an hour late and were greeted at the door by a frantic female member of staff who hurried us into dinner even before showing us to our bedrooms. The staff were friendly and dinner was delicious, although overpriced. The wine was wonderful, but not what we ordered. The bottle we received came recommended by the waiter but I am not sure it was worth its 100€ price tag! Our rooms were comfortable but sadly there was no hot water either that night or the next morning. A beautiful chateau. Just a few tweaks could really enhance the experience. (The taxidermy was a little unsettling!)

Sad chateau

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 15, 2017

A once grand hotel in decline. If you have a stuffed animal phobia it's not for you as the front hall has a very sad lion and a white tiger in the entrance. The bedroom we had was spacious with a small entry room, sitting room and good sized bathroom but all in quite poor decorative condition with damp stains and peeling bubbling plaster around the windows. Worse was the previous occupations disposable contact lenses on the bedside table! Bathroom was last fitted in the 80's so only a shower over an old bath with deteriorating enamel. Didn't eat dinner or breakfast here so cannot comment on food.

Perfect place not so perfect room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 17, 2017

The place is amazing, beautiful chateau with great surroundings. But the room not so good. He had a back one that had a great view but not so great internal. If you pay 200 euros per night I believe everything should be perfect
