Perfect stay with a perfect host

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

One of the most perfect stay ever! We arrived around 3pm to two glasses of sparkling wine, what a great welcome. We booked the junior suite on fourth floor and it was absolutely amazing. The lady of the house is absolutely friendly, lots of recommendations when it comes to sightseeing, places to visit, cafes and restaurants. We love her story telling and always with a smile! We were given a voucher for the car park (follow their parking instructions, it is perfect) so no drama there as well. Salzburg is a great city to walk around, and as a base to visit Halstatt & St Wolfgang and this is the best hotel for this purpose.

Very Nice Small Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Very nice experience with Ulrika as our host. Room was uniquely decorated, with great bathroom and rain shower. Breakfast continental style plus eggs to order. Everything tasty. All sorts of drink choices including good cappuccino. They are leaving Hyatt small hotels in May. Too bad.

It’s all about the charming Ulrike

What a wonderfully cosy quirky hotel, perfectly set in the middle of the old town on a quiet street which is bookended by two lovely squares. Our premium room on the 4th floor was comfortable and well appointed. The bed was enormous and there was plenty of cupboard and drawer space. The bathroom was fine with a lovely walk in shower. Have to mention the adornments on the ceiling and cupboard doors - different and eye catching. Breakfast was served in the adjacent restaurant and was more than adequate, being a 3 plated continental affair on a stand with a basket of breads and rolls but also with cooked eggs offered. The service was efficient and discreet. I’ve saved the best part for last. Ulrike Ulrike - what a charming hostess and full of great suggestions and helpful advice. My wife and I’m wondered if there were in fact two of her because she seemed to be everywhere. My wife was ill one day and Ulrike was most helpful with directions to a pharmacy and also a small plate of food appropriate for my wife’s needs (which was not charged for despite us asking for it to be added to the bill). I should also add the restaurant is a highly rated lunch and dinner venue too, although sadly we only had the breakfast there. A delightful stay in a unique hotel which is also a member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” collection. You won’t go wrong if you stay there.

Stupendous, Central, Chic + Wonderful Welcome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

In short: This luxury small hotel in the centre of Salzburg is Romantic and charming. The best welcome I have ever received in any hotel - including a number of other SLHs! We had a jnr suite on the 3rd floor with a lovely view of Goldgasse - which as the name suggests full of golden things (antique shops, a la mode fashion, specialty gin). Golden might be a better word for this place. Let’s start with the welcome. “herzlich willkommen” - so frequently said, so rarely actually heartfelt- here we had the most lovely welcome. The patroness- a woman full of the joie de vivre, welcomed us heartedly, asked my name (and remembered it throughout our long weekend stay) we were then given hot flannels and Austrian Sparkling wine - made especially for the hotel. We then had a genuinely friendly conversation about our trip to Salzburg. We then were given some great recommendations for what to do over the next few days. Then we were taken to our room where things were actually explained (lights, heating etc) The room was bathed in natural light with effective curtains. The design was modern and tasteful but with some classic features, eg Pine wood in the ceiling which is typical of Austria. The centrality and high number of windows means that you should expect some noise - but frankly there was much less than I expected - the windows do a great job at taking out some of the street noise - NB these are the sounds of a small peaceful street in a historic city, quiet conversations, walking the dog and the church bells - NOT pubs / nightclubs. The bed was massive and comfortable. Good sheets and pillows. The shower was powerful and easy to use. Plenty of storage space and a great tap. Would certainly stay again, if only to have another chat with the comic, caring manager, and friendly atmosphere. Nb. There is a restaurant on the ground floor but we didn’t eat there but it looked good.

Wonderful and personal.

We visited for my 70th birthday after reading all the positive reviews about the hotel and Ulrike. Anyone who is thinking of going should go ahead straight away. The personal welcome we received together with the attention given to us on my birthday was the best I have experienced in any hotel. We stayed in a junior suite which was very homely. Thanks for a memorable two nights!
