THE GOOD: Overall, a great hotel. Above average and great location. The hotel sits atop a hill with amazing views surrounded by prime shopping, golfing and dining, this hotel is great. THE BAD: What's with the fees? I don't mind paying resort fees if there's value in doing so which, unfortunately, is not the case with this hotel. The hotel charges a $20 "destination amenity fee" atop the booked room rate, and an additional $35/nt for valet. They clarify this at time of booking and try to sell you on the all of the privileges you receive for paying this fee. I also don't mind the $35 valet, it's convenient. However, they make bold promises for the $20 amenity fee. "Valued at over $150," guests receive, if timed right, a free wine tasting (in the afternoon), virtual golf on the second, 2 bottles of water/day, one scoop of gilato, a free appetizer, internet, and shuttle service to local shops. It would be great if they could deliver on half of those amenities. Of privileges I received nothing more than a small scoop of gelato. No bottles of water in my room, virtual golf (listed as open till 10pm) was locked an inaccessible at 8pm, wine tastings are held oddly at 3pm when most folks are out on business or exploring the town and I'm not sure how accessing the steam and fitness facilities wouldn't be considered part of your base rate. Plenty of hotels have shuttles, provide bottles of water and fitness facilities, just don't try and sell me on a $20 fee for a scoop of ice cream. I travel a lot for work and family trips and don't mind splurging on the Ritz or Four Seasons, but I get annoyed by resort fees or whatever synonymous term is used to pay for amenities which the hotel does not deliver on. I have several business trips planned and will be looking at other options. I hear the La Cantera Resort is nice. (Bonus: certain Visa and Amex card holders get these amenities in addition to free valet and an upgrade at the La Cantera Resort. Look in to it).

Every facet of this place is great. The staff is courteous and eager to help. Deborah and Jackie went above and beyond our expectations when it mattered most! The rooms are gorgeous, the food is incredible, and the pool is appropriately rated the best pool in Texas. We'll be back for sure!

J-M was my front desk representative that assisted me in my check in process. Him and the bellman John were absolutely amazing. They were so accommodating. I really was impressed on the customer service and I will definitely encourage anyone interested in staying here to look out for theses two gentlemen... absolutely hands down... Along with Aaron and Marcellus our room service attendants.. very into pleasing us with our requests. Ms. Hollywood at the pool bar along with Daniel absolutely amazing people.. Thank you Eilan staff for such great service.

I’m a native Texan that was in town for the Gun’s and Roses show at the Alamodome over last weekend. I had originally booked through my Marriot rewards member call center and only noticed the local Texan deal under the room package tab ($125 per night) on my Marriot app (they hide them from the call center ???) Knowing that we were getting a great deal allowed us to splurge at the pool bar and spa during our stay – Entire staff treated us like royalty and we were really impressed when the Valet at pull up asked us if we wanted the free parking option in lieu of the $35 fee per day! No tricks just upfront about it. Yes, there was a $20 resort fee but the grounds were impetuous!! Please do note that this resort is a well sought wedding venue (So Romantic) so do not expect a quite lobby on weekend with so many reception parties.
