Looked after bags early on arrival. There was no mention of the noise issues throughout the evening and in to the morning. If we had known the live band was due to be playing in the hotel with screaming audience we would never have stayed here. We came in about 9-9.30 to watch the tv, we contacted the help desk who said someone would be with us in approx. 7 minutes 3 hours later nobody arrived, managed to figure out tv thankfully. I tried to sleep at 11pm to the thumping on my pillow of the live band, at no point was this mentioned and I feel this is terrible customer service, as the hotel is supposed to be offering a bed to sleep in. We also asked earlier in the evening if there was a bar, to which I was told no, so as far as I was concerned no bar no music.

Excellent location. Wasn't impressed by the room. Felt like a warehouse. My guess is they can't renovate too much without losing the integrity of the original building. Windows drowned out much of the sound which was nice. Staff was very friendly. Room was just OK.

The Keating is one for the ages, a bit like a Hotel Budapest. It's vibrant red décor seduces you into a dwelling of mystique and the quirky annoyances like the world's slowest elevator are things you can't help adoring. Front desk staff all highly accommodating. Location great in Gaslamp, noisy on Fridays and Saturdays as the drunken hordes flood to the clubs and pubs. Really enjoyed our stay. Bed super comfy. The penthouse may not be a penthouse but it still sounds great ! Will return and recommend.

I was very impressed apon checking in, we were served with champagne. When we reached our room in PH floor the room was not very pleasant. Couldn't figure out how to turn on shower. There was a dirty rag on the floor next to the sink. The shower rug ws stained orange. The bedding did not look fresh. There is no button on telephone to call front desk. Thankfully I didn't spend too much time in the room only sleep and a shower. Not impressed . The pictures looked great the real thing did not.

The Keating Hotel is a great place for anyone looking to experience the downtown nightlife of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter offers. There are literally hundreds of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs withing easy walking distance from their location. The rooms are large and uniquely decorated with chic modern amenities. The stainless sinks and walk in showers were great! The music playing in the room when you arrive is a nice touch. The staff was very helpful and eager to assist with any request. The attention to detail with cleaning in the rooms could use a little more effort. The bathroom amenities were a little underwhelming and there was no soap dish or shelf in the shower to set your shampoo, soap, etc..., when you were done using them. All in all, very minor things. The bed was comfortable and my room had great views of the city. Try to stay in a corner room if you can. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great location in downtown San Diego as there are endless activities within walking distance! Be sure to eat at Cafe 21 which is located in the same building around the corner. The food is excellent and be sure you get one of their yellow bloody marys and the Tiramisu Pancakes!
