Note: this hotel billed me some extra charges that were not included in the online booking (not talking about resort fees). Still trying to figure out why that is... The hotel could not provide indoor sleepers contrary to advertised on the Booking.com room facilities list. During the rain storm that affected San Diego during our stay, water leaked from the ceiling during the night causing noise and making it difficult to sleep. The busy Gaslamp Quarter street can be noisy in the weekend but it was ok for us since we were expecting it. Nice room decor, style and window views at least.

Very nice small hotel in the heart of Gaslamp. Room was newer chic. Bed was nice. HVAC control had some issues with maintaining a constant temperature within reason. May have been related to the motion sensor activation. Hotel does need a little renovation updating to maintain higher standard.

Amazing, amazing room! Get the room with the atrium and jacuzzi! It was so modern and romantic. Great, friendly and helpful staff and the location was beyond perfect. Easily walked everywhere we needed to go in the gaslight district.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for couples or anyone looking for a good place to stay in the heart of the gaslamp. Pros: - Very nice and accommodating staff - Great price for a prepaid room (internet deal) - Excellent location - One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever had - Plenty of snacks and drinks available for the standard overpriced hotel fees (really, no one should be shocked by the price of the honor bar in hotels - they are always overpriced) - Amazing shower head and true there is no privacy but no big deal for a couple (enjoy the luxury of an extra large shower to share) - Extra-large, plush bath towels Cons - The cold water knob in our sink didn't work so I had to use the shower water to wash my face so I didn't scald myself - We had a wheelchair accommodation room which we didn't need so that was a little weird and institutional - I was prepared for any city noise but wasn't prepared for the chatter in the courtyard below us in the morning. Our room overlooked a courtyard that was covered by triangular sun shades so I'm not sure who was out there talking - sounded like it might have been an employee break area, but whoever it was had a LOT to say and I know way too many details about their life now - Need specific instructions about how to put the coffee pod in the machine, its deceiving (especially if you need caffeine to function) Other things - yes, cement floors are cold but I'll take that over icky hotel carpet that can't be mopped any day - No way would I pay the $45 parking fee, we took the train and there is plenty of less expensive public parking - Glass of proseco is a great touch - Little things like the yoga mat, robes, and pleasure kit add to the hotel's "vibe" - I rated the room and sleep as average because we did not need a wheel chair accommodated room and mostly because of the loud chatter below in the morning (fix those 2 things and I would rate it excellent) Overall, we would totally stay here again. I would be more specific with my room request

If you love tubs, this is the hotel for you. We've stayed here three times, and we have our eyes on the scotch suite for a birthday celebration next year as well. We absolutely love their suites, particularly their soaking tubs. The first room we stayed in we enjoyed so much that we went back for a second time three months later. Our third stay was in a different room with an outdoor spa tub which was lovely. I would highly recommend this kind of room on a cold night, because I believe it'd be a bit wasted on a hot summer evening. I'd also recommend bringing tea light candles if you stay in that specific room. They don't provide them (even though they show them in the photos) and they really make the spot exceptionally romantic. I will say I think the service over the past three years has gone down a little bit. Not to the point that we love the hotel any less, but to the degree that it is noticeable. Our first two trips they greeted us in the lobby with glasses of champagne, offered to take our luggage, and provided us with guided tours of our room. Our third trip they checked us in but didn't do any of these things, which I considered additional treats for staying in a nice boutique hotel. It should also be noted that it can be loud here in the late night hours because of surrounding bars and clubs, so if you need to get to bed before midnight, you may want to look elsewhere. Outside of that, the suites are still spectacular and 100% worth it!
