I stayed at the Keating for a nigth. On the bright side, its location is excellent, very close to the pier, and in the middle of Gaslamp, close to the best part of the city. Also, the design of the hotel is very nice. Unfortunately, there are many things that made me not wanna stay there again. First off, the room I was given was incredibly loud, since there is a bar in the same building. It was impossible to sleep, so I had to ask for a change at 10;00pm. I was moved to an upper level, which was not as noisy as the other one, but still, you could listen to the music. The bed was incredibly unconfortable. It was a "king size", which in reality was just two little beds put togheter. The pillows were also terrible, and they didnt have other kind, so I had to use the ones provided. The shower was broken, so it didnt work properly, therfore I had the worst shower in a long time. Overall, what seemed as a good option in downtown San Diego, ended up being a very normal place. Even though the price is good compared to similar hotel located in the same area, it is not a cheap hotel, so I think that the service must be improved.

I have a heart condition and needed to go to the hospital, but had to follow up with the front desk 3 times for a cab. I should have called an ambulance but felt a cab would be fast enough. A nearby barista helped me hail a cab. Then I had the worst check-out experience ever after staying 3 days for my birthday week. I was told that coming later would be fine and was charged the late check out fee, only to arrive in the lobby and find my opened suitcase with clothing and personal items thrown on a luggage cart. I was shocked since they could have simply called since I was having dinner a couple blocks away. There were some great employees but the subpar employees made a lasting impression. I realize that The Keating is only rated 4 stars but given my experience managing a 5 star, I was appalled and embarrassed by the experience.

I enjoyed my stay here. Great location, staff was very welcoming and helpful. Only thing i would change is my room. I was on street side and could hear every noise outside...tough to sleep. Otherwise, great!!

This hotel is located near all the action in the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. Awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff, particularly a young man named Denzel. The room we stayed in was outfitted with dual sinks and mirrors next to a glass encased, odorless rainfall shower, across from a King sized bed. Very quaint and more than enough room to serve two people. This room isn't a room for someone looking for amenities like microwaves and refrigerators, although there is a refrigerator containing beverages for sale. It's for someone that wants to be located in the heart of downtown San Diego and have nice room to retire too when you are done taking in the sites and sounds. Directly next door to Patrick's and Around the corner from Coyote Ugly, it's fairly loud until just after last call. Simply go to bed after that and it's great. Everything is within walking distance! Food, bars, the bay and PETCO park! I highly recommend this hotel and will be looking into their suites on my next visit!

The Keating is a great historic hotel in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. It is close to everything, and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous and modern. Each staff member was helpful and super friendly from the moment we arrived until the time we left.
