Paradise Point

It was not a great experience! Bed is old, sunken, uneven mattress, and I woke up with a stiff back pain every morning. Bedsheets were old, pillings and felt very rough. We paid for a suite high price (over $ 500/night) but the room is not worth it, besides the great bayview! There were bugs and spiders in the curtains and bathroom. We requested late check out by 1pm due to my conference was at the hotel ended at 12 PM but they wanted to charge me for the late checkout. And they made it very difficult back-and-forth texting due to their in room phone system was not working, not only that they took very long time to respond. AC UNIT is very noisy, difficult to sleep with it on.

The location was very good but the facility itself is a maintenance nightmare. Everything is run down, unkept or needs maintenance or cleaning. Upon an early check-in, they guaranteed safely storing our luggage, but left it sitting at the drive up curb unattended for 20 minutes until I complained, and they called someone. Luckily we saw that it was sitting there so we stayed on a Park bench watching it across the driveway. Landscaping is not kept up, dry, dying shrubs everywhere, cracks in the cement walkways and driveways for trip/fall hazards, rooms are dusty, rooms need updating. TV was a smart TV but did not work properly. We stayed four nights and never once were the sheets changed. The beds were made but used same linen, dirty drinking glasses left in the room every day, burned out porch light so when arriving at night, you cannot see. Pool lounges are dirty and old. Restaurant menu cards are sticky and need cleaning, Hot Tub at the adult pool does not work. They knew for nearly a month that they were going to have a planned and scheduled power outage on Thursday evening from 10 PM until 7 AM but did not tell me when I booked 4 days prior to my stay nor did, they mention it at check-in or the two days I stayed before the power outage. They left a printed paper telling us about the power outage six hours prior to the outage. This did not give us enough time to find another hotel which disrupted our plans significantly. Many hotel guests we spoke to were as furious as we were. It was known there would be no lights, no hot water, no refrigerator, no power for plug-ins of any kind, including for medical devices or charging devices, no air conditioning and the windows do not open so you need to leave your doors standing open, which is a safety hazard. They offered to keep refrigerated medication’s at the main office, shared with other people’s medication’s so who knows what the refrigeration temperature was or what bacteria may be on medication’s that were being stored along with your own. The restaurant food is good and the staff are very helpful but overall I could not recommend staying here as it is rundown and overpriced for the amenities. I feel they have chosen to defer maintenance over customer satisfaction, and safety.

The location is beautiful and the staff was very kind and quick to answer. Paradise Cove is great for swimming. But we paid extra for a Lanai Garden Premium room and it was not worth it. The room is dated and need renovation, the towels had yellow stains, and the patio chairs was very dirty. There is also no shade on the patio so we can't use it during the day. On the beach there is no chairs from the resort, and you are not allowed to take the room chairs, even to the fire pits. My wife is pregnant and needed a chair, but the only option was to pay $212 for the bonfire package. Beautiful place, but the rooms and the beach setup don't match the price.

This was our first stay at Paradise Point, and we absolutely loved it. The lobby staff were very friendly, and all of the staff we met or needed to talk to were amazing and helpful. The location made it very easy to get to other places in San Diego like Old Town, the waterfront area, and being retired military, getting to North Island Naval Station was close and easy to get to. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Very dated hotel and very unsafe. Do not get a beach side room. It’s a public beach and there is lots of theft and homeless people. We had major theft during our event and the hotel security was completely unhelpful during and after it happened. The windows literally pop out easily. Horrible. Oh we also found a cockroach
