This is a great place for couples wanting a quiet getaway so long as you go in low season as well as families with children during summertime. It's a unique property as it's situated on an island in the middle of Mission Bay and is the only resort/hotel there. The individual bungalows are way more private and intimate than a typical vertical hotel. The rooms are very spacious and updated although we were a bit disappointed about not being able to access any streaming services on the TV (they should really fix that.) Being on an island, you'll enjoy its privacy, peacefulness and uncluttered beaches. The proximity of this hotel to the Sea World, Old Town, downtown, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo and the airport is a huge plus. I strongly recommend this resort hotel.

This is not a 4/5 star resort. It might qualify as a three star and that is a stretch. The amenities don’t come close to 4 star (no towels at the pool, no mini bar, sparse room supplies like coffee, creamer, water etc) The property is dated and poorly maintained. The food situation is horrible. And because the resort is isolated, you’re limited to their offerings unless you want to travel for dinner. I can’t recommend this place. It feels like a motel 6 but with an exorbitant price tag. Even small touches like, morning coffee in the lobby, water and refreshments in the afternoon would be a welcome addition. There seems to be no effort in customer satisfaction.

Interesting property. I didn't realize it was like all villas (no hotel tower, etc), so it had bit of a fancy campground (each spot has a dedicated parking spot) feel to it. This may sound contradictory, but it's good for two different cases: couple wanting a private getaway (private bungalows) or for large groups (due to the beach fire pits). The rooms were spacious for two. There are several pools, but we only used the main pool and hot tub. Water temp was perfect--gently heated pool. Property is close to Sea World and Belmont Park/Mission Beach. Breakfast at Barefoot Bar&Grill was ok. I was there for the pool and proximity to beach. I had considered 2-3 other properties, but I would probably come back here again. My biggest complaint is the property was not crowded and they wouldn't give me a 12:30 or 1pm checkout because they said a large group was coming in that day. It was late October and the place was not packed at all, my request was not unreasonable. They did give me a courtesy keycard for the pool so I could still use it after checkout time, so happy there.

I would advise you to stay away from this hotel! After 3 days of no housekeeping, I assumed they only clean rooms between customers. I left my makeup bag out on the counter when we went to dinner and lo and behold they decided to clean our room between 6-8pm and my jewelry was stolen during that time! I never travel with “good” jewelry, but I had brought a cross my deceased mother had gotten in Israel to show my daughter and that was stolen along with another small diamond cross plus some costume jewelry earrings and necklace. I am heartbroken over this loss and it gives me a sick feeling in my stomach to even think of this resort. Never ever again!!!

This place is a Bio hazard. For the price and the cost of parking and resort fees, the quality is absurd. Dirt and dead bugs on the floor. The rooms are damp, the sheets are damp, and there was mold growing in the interior AC unit. My child has asthma and he was got so sick.
