Rancho Bernardo Inn

Beautiful Property, but Service and Staffing Fell Short Rancho Bernardo Inn is a beautiful property with lovely grounds—we really enjoyed that part of our stay. Unfortunately, our dining experiences at the Fireside Lounge were disappointing. On our first evening, we arrived for dinner without a reservation and were offered seating on the couches, which was perfectly fine with us. Shortly afterward, another couple arrived without a reservation and was offered the same option. The woman threw a major fit, and the hostess—possibly Norah—ultimately gave them a table. It felt unfair and inconsiderate to guests who had accepted the couch seating. The following morning, despite having a breakfast reservation at the Fireside Lounge, service was very slow and inattentive. On a positive note, the vanilla lattes there were excellent. The coffee café also appeared seriously understaffed for a Sunday morning. The barista was clearly doing her best, but the line was extremely long and she had no support. My latte seemed rushed and was made incorrectly, so I ended up throwing it out. I don’t fault the barista at all—the staffing situation was the issue. There was also very little bar service at the adult pool. With better poolside service, the resort could create a much better guest experience—and likely bring in substantially more revenue. A beautiful resort, but the food-and-beverage service and staffing need more attention.

Mason was extremely helpful, and his service truly went above and beyond! We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff throughout the property were friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and the overall service was excellent. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, and we really appreciated the attention to detail. The property itself was beautiful, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy our time. We had such a great experience and are already looking forward to coming back.

My dad and I arrived and were lost finding our building for our rooms. We asked Mason just to point us in the right direction and he immediately stopped what he was doing, grabbed our bags and took us the whole way. He was so professional and so nice. He showed us into our beautiful rooms and gave us a full tour. Thank you Mason!!

The entire experience was satisfying, but I really want to point out an especially professional problem solving skills of the front desk and guest service team. We smelled strong cigarette smoke coming into our nonsmoking room when we came back from our dinner, maybe around 9:30PM on Aug 20, 2026. It is super selfish behavior of the smoker, but I understand hotels may not have much control on it. I called the front desk, even though I was not very sure if this could help solving the issue. The gentleman who answered the call responded very professionally, explaining me they will diagnose the situation and seek for a solution. We heard a respectful conversation from the lower floor room maybe less than 5 minutes after the call. Then the smell stopped entering our room. I deeply appreciate their sincere effort and outstanding professionalism handling this issue.

Fantastic Amenities, including great restaurants, spa services, comfortable rooms, beautiful golf course and so many places to just sit, relax and enjoy life. Highly recommend!
