We stayed here with a large extended family group (about 50 people) to celebrate my grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary. I loved the beautiful grounds. There are many little surprises as you wander the property, with fountains, lawns and beautiful views. Everything was nice, but not stuffy. To me it felt very much like the Southern California of my childhood, relaxed and lovely, but never over the top. The rooms were also comfortable and nice, but not particularly fancy. The large shower was nice and had great water pressure. The room was a good place to relax after a busy day. The staff also took care of a lovely reception, many meals and even a late night ice cream sundae bar for our family. Everyone was extremely helpful and very nice. It was a great weekend!

Somewhat dated and tired looking, RBI is way overpriced and probably coasting on its name. When we checked in late at night and achirpy front desk attendant informed us that we had been upgraded to a nicer room with a fabulous view. Reality was that we were allotted a room in the Greens building which is a trek away from anything in the main building and a pain in the derrière if you want to go swimming. We had to walk in through the front door in our robes, past snickering guests to get to the pool! Also the magnificent view was a blah view of a tree. I get to see those at home too - thank you! Breakfast is an overpriced and underwhelming scanty buffet setting you back $20. Other high end hotels we've stayed at charge you the same but include more menu items and more imagination. Bland Tazo tea, run of the mill scrambled eggs etc. were uninspiring. If you sit inside - it's a depressing affair, dark and poorly lit. We tried some appetizers at Avant - generous calamari drowned in a cloying sweet sauce would have fared better with sauce on the side, excellent ahi crudo, and great Brussels sprouts. There's really nothing special at RBI that warrants the $$ they charge. Slightly bigger than average rooms, but boring and dated furniture, small bathrooms with a cramped shower, indifferent service ( wait 30 minutes for robes that were promised to be delivered immediately).

Took my husband away for his birthday. 4 days and 3 nights. The golf package let us play two days for the price of one. The golf course was in very good shape. The first day the pace of play was 4 1/2 hours as a foursome but day two, we were able to get out early as a twosome and played in 3 hours 15 minutes. Very enjoyable. The food at Veranda two night with an all you can eat delicious prime rib. The service the first night was very good but the server the second night was not good. Our server from the first night kept coming by to check on us. We appreciated his efforts to cover for the other servers short comings. The staff kept wishing my husband a happy birthday for three days! They were attentive. The room was clean and had been updated. Will definitely return for a short golf get away in the future.

Property is beautiful. Lots of up and down steps and ramps. Staff was nice. Food was good at Veranda and nice setting. Nothing much around. Hotel staff drove us uphill a mile to a little village with shops and wine tasting. That was pretty cool. No waiters at the adult pool. Had to call on a phone to order drinks. The picture of the pool on the website is the spa pool, not the adult pool. Very different. You can only enter if you had same day services at the spa. Attended a few company events during our stay. All went well. Food just ok.

We were so excited for a local family getaway! It wasn't all that we had hoped or planned for. When I saw the "family fun package", I called the reservation line to book as I also wanted to apply our AAA discount. A super friendly guy helped me and I complimented him on his great service and we locked in a great price for the weekend. Confirmation letter sent. Surprise set for our little ones. Upon check in, they would not honor the price he quoted me. Even when I showed them my confirmation email. But with two little girls (ages 4 and 6) excited, we were on our way to our room....4 hours later, 4 calls to the front desk we only had 1 sleeping bags/tents, no welcome cookies and milk, and in their fun activities things were mismatched so one daughter had things the other didn't. You can imagine how that went over, oh and the craft required a glue gun! So for 4 hours, we had a sad little girl asking where her tent was! This was hard for us because we didn't want to complain but it was a "family fun" pack and the first day was anything but fun. They did credit us $50, but the surprise for our girls and first day were ruined. The rest of the weekend we had fun at the family pool! The wait staff and housekeeping staff were delightful and went out of their way for us. No complaints there. So as long as we weren't interacting with the front desk, we were happy! I think it could have been a nice weekend if we had no booked a special package. Lesson learned. Money lost.
