Pacific Beach, a coastal San Diego neighborhood, is an unlikely place for a hideaway crafted from translucent glass with lines that are contemporary and clean. But that is what you will find at Tower23 Hotel, a chic retreat surrounded by serious surfers and sun-worshippers. Sporting a cool and unconventional façade, its name is derived from lifeguard tower 23, which is positioned near the hotel and serves as a beacon for beach goers. Select from an assortment of room and suite types - Spirit Pad, Sky Pad, Surf Pad, Sanctuary Suite and Sweet Suite - that bask in modernistic features with sleek furnishings and minimalist appointments, coupled with private balconies or patios. The amenities are also a bit out-of-the-box, with chromatherapy baths, step-in rain showers, mini-bars personalized to your liking, and Xbox entertainment centers.

I had such a wonderful experience at Tower! Unbeatable facilities, service and location. I absolutely will be returning. I am so grateful for everyone who made my experience what it was! Special thanks to Austin and the rest of the valet team for their flexibility and attentiveness in getting my car in and out in a timely matter.

My family and I came to San Diego for a weekend and we decided to book to Tower 23. Let me tell you, it was an amazing experience! The hotel was right on the beach! Easy access to the beach, literally right out the window. The restaurant JRDN was very tasty. 5/5 stars. The room was very clean, customer service made you feel welcomed every time. If I needed an extra towel or anything, they’d respond and be there in a few minutes. Overall I’m extremely pleased with the service, cleanliness and easy access to beach activities. They also had bike rentals as well. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to San Diego to book at this hotel!!!

The best place to stay and dine in Pacific Beach. Tower23 is right on the beach, modern, clean, and the staff could not do enough for you. JRDN, the restaurant, is equal to any New York City dining experience. The sun deck with the fire pit made our evenings magical. We will be coming back again and again. Thank you Tower23 and JRDN.

I booked this hotel through Capital One Travel and received a confirmed reservation for a King bed, ocean view, with a jetted tub. When I arrived, the hotel assigned me a completely different room: two twin beds, garden view, and a standard shower. The front desk insisted that this was “what Capital One booked,” but they were unable to show any documentation to support that claim. Capital One later confirmed the room type on their end and issued me a refund for the downgrade. Based on this experience, it appears the hotel may not honor room types booked through third‑party agencies. The staff also told me that this “happens often” with Expedia/Capital One and suggested booking directly with them instead — which raises concerns about how they handle Online Travel Agencies reservations. If you rely on room type accuracy, be cautious booking this property through third‑party sites. My confirmed room was not honored, and the explanation I received was inconsistent.

Excellent hotel and service... will not consider another hotel in San Diego. Staff is professional and top shelf.

Outstanding location facing the ocean in an old beach suburb of San Diego. Beautiful setting and clean contemporary design to establish a new standard for the city. Impeccable rooms atop a fine restaurant and service is hip, attentive and aware. I lose myself every time I stay. A highlight of my travels.
