Pacific Beach, a coastal San Diego neighborhood, is an unlikely place for a hideaway crafted from translucent glass with lines that are contemporary and clean. But that is what you will find at Tower23 Hotel, a chic retreat surrounded by serious surfers and sun-worshippers. Sporting a cool and unconventional façade, its name is derived from lifeguard tower 23, which is positioned near the hotel and serves as a beacon for beach goers. Select from an assortment of room and suite types - Spirit Pad, Sky Pad, Surf Pad, Sanctuary Suite and Sweet Suite - that bask in modernistic features with sleek furnishings and minimalist appointments, coupled with private balconies or patios. The amenities are also a bit out-of-the-box, with chromatherapy baths, step-in rain showers, mini-bars personalized to your liking, and Xbox entertainment centers.

Tower 23 offers the best ambiance. Just chill, pacific beach vibes. Amazing sounds from the hotel with the waves constantly crashing. Proximity to Kono's and the pier are amazing too. A perfect spot to watch a sunset, or jump in the ocean. Just heaven on earth! Service is fantastic too!

We came here for a family trip and loved it!!! The Staff is great from the moment I made my reservation on the phone with Natalia she gave me so much information and recommendations nearby this was our first time in San Diego so we wanted to do everything. There was always someone we could ask for help weather it was needing toiletries restocked, grabbing stuff for the beach or just asking a simple question we felt very taken care of. The only downside was that the wifi didn't work half of the time, but the location & staff make up for it.

I chose Tower23 based upon online reviews and photos. I thought it was a serene hotel on the beach in San Diego. Imagine my surprise when my Uber pulled up to the hotel and the driver said, "Wow, this is party central!" Seriously, I had no idea. We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon and it really was a scene (not in a bad way). But even though I'm not a party person by any means, the scene did not bother me at all. First of all, they notified us a week before our stay that there would be a DJ and music on the patio from late afternoon until 9 or 10 pm on the day of our arrival. I could hear the music thumping, but it didn't bother me AT ALL. And it ended punctually when they said it would. So that was the party scene. Not a problem. Aside from that, we had a very nice stay. The hotel is right on the beach, so we had a great view of the surfers and swimmers. The hotel provided us with beach chairs and towels (no extra cost). There's not really a pool at Tower23 -- it was described as more of a "water feature", sort of a dipping pool, not a swimming pool. Which was absolutely fine. There was an attendant poolside to provide towels and drinks. I loved being able to walk out of the hotel in the morning and be right on the walkway along the beach, along with the runners and walkers and surfers. There are LOADS of food establishments around, available all day and into the night. We only had 2 days in San Diego and honestly, we blew off the zoo and city tours to end our California trip by sitting on the beach and enjoying some fun in the sun. Which was very easy to do while staying at Tower23. We did have a couple of drinks at the restaurant, plus sushi. It was all great. Tower 23 made me feel like a cool person enjoying a weekend in California. Can't beat that.

Outstanding location facing the ocean in an old beach suburb of San Diego. Beautiful setting and clean contemporary design to establish a new standard for the city. Impeccable rooms atop a fine restaurant and service is hip, attentive and aware. I lose myself every time I stay. A highlight of my travels.
