Cabo Azul has some real positives, but unfortunately the overall experience didn’t live up to expectations. The rooms are genuinely nice—spacious, clean, and comfortable. The food was also very good, and most of the staff were friendly and professional, which made parts of the stay enjoyable. That said, the resort feels overly rigid and not particularly guest-focused. There are a lot of rules, and flexibility is almost nonexistent. Something as simple as using a towel to block the sun so you can stay outside longer isn’t allowed. You can’t even adjust the angle of the sun shade yourself—you have to ask staff to do it for you. The pool policies are especially frustrating. You’re not allowed to bring your own drink to the pool, even if you purchased that alcohol at their on-site store (at a very steep markup). Drinks ordered at the pool are weak—even doubles, which is pretty standard anywhere in SJD—and the food prices are also roughly double what you’d expect elsewhere. To make matters worse, guests routinely “save” pool chairs for hours at a time without actually using them, and this behavior isn’t managed at all. In short: beautiful rooms, good food, and nice staff—but the excessive rules, weak drinks, high prices, and lack of accommodation really take away from what could otherwise be a great resort. Not a place I’d rush back to.

Totally unsafe pool I slipped and fell getting into the pool, this is what happens with just a Band-Aid to help. They told me I would have to pay for additional medical assistance

Everything was perfect! The facility, the food, the service, the decor. Walking distance to nearby village for local color and shopping/food. Separate pools for peace and families, great beach, over the top decor, happy employees. Really hard to beat.

Cabo Azul is definitely a 5 star resort with 5 star prices. We had a one bedroom suite and it was spacious, well kept and clean. We made good use of the kitchen as the prices in the hotel restaurants and bars were ridiculous. Drinks were $23US and happy hour drinks may be BOGO but the size was definitely smaller and one of the servers confirmed that. There's a variety of restaurants across the street from the resort where the prices are substantially lower and the food was pretty good. And as with every resort known to man, signs says towels and property will be removed as there is no saving chairs but nothing is ever done! And there is a lot of pressure to take a time share presentation. If your vacation time is valuable, do yourself a favour and avoid unless you were thinking of buying to begin with. But the buildings and pools were excellent! Gym was large with lots of equipment. Would definitely stay here again since I now know what to expect but will be cooking more! Going to the large supermarket to stock up with food and drinks will save you a lot of money and it's no that far away. We walked there and took an Uber back.

The rooms were spacious and very clean. Bathrooms were also spacious; however the shower head had only 1 full spray setting, and rinsing out hair took some time. The mattress was also a bit saggy and seemed well-used, which was surprising for this type of resort. The rooms all had very nice balconies with tables. Even though we only had a mini fridge in our room, it was large enough to hold left overs and some groceries, as well as a nice sized freezer. The gym was also very well equipped, and the classes and activities were a nice benefit. We were surprised that there wasn't potable water available in the lobby at all times. If you were there at the right time during check ins, they walked around with small bottles of water; otherwise, you could only buy water. If you buy it on-site, be prepared to pay steep prices. The pools were gorgeous and the place has a beautiful view of the sea and a nice walking beach. Staff was also very nice and service was quick. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Cabo Azul was a beautiful resort. The premiere restaurant, Javier, was also excellent. We had spa services that were in a lovely setting and well executed. If you are looking to get out of the hustle bustle of Cabo San Lucas head up the coast to this exquisite resort.
