Cabo Azul Resort

We recently spent four days at Cabo Azul after also spending four days at Hyatt Ziva just down the road. We had previously visited Cabo Azul and loved it — which is exactly why we returned. Unfortunately, this visit will be our last. While the property itself remains beautiful and the service staff are excellent, the pricing for food and beverages has become excessive. Meals for our family of four consistently ranged between $200–$300, with alcoholic drinks priced at $23 each, sodas at $8, coffee at $15, and even a hamburger costing $33 — all before an additional 18% service charge. By the end of each day, our total cost averaged around $1,400 including lodging and meals. In comparison, we stayed at Hyatt Ziva nearby, which is all-inclusive, and paid approximately $750 per night for our family of four. The property is beautiful, the pools are gorgeous, the food quality was excellent, and there was lively entertainment every evening. Cabo Azul, by contrast, felt very quiet and lacked evening energy. We truly wanted to love our return visit, but given the current pricing structure, we would not choose to stay here again. For families looking for better overall value and a more vibrant atmosphere, we would strongly recommend Hyatt Ziva.

Very unsatisfied with the service provided at Cabo Azul. My fiance and I stayed here and loved the resort. We toured the wedding venues and talked with a wedding coordinator at this time. We got a proposal for the wedding for 17k. We thought this was doable considering that the proposal stated that almost everything was included. After paying a 3k deposit, we got in touch with our wedding coordinator. The wedding coordinator then told us that they had “mandatory vendors” that we had to book. After getting quotes from the mandated vendors, the wedding was going to cost well over 40k. Yes, the vendors were going to cost more than the wedding venue. Of course none of this was even slightly mentioned in the proposal. Less than a week after paying the deposit, we had to cancel the wedding because of all of their hidden fees. We asked for a refund of our deposit or at least to give us credit at the hotel. They told us that the wedding department was separate from the hotel, so they couldn’t refund us or transfer the deposit. Needless to say, I feel that Cabo Azul took advantage of my fiance and I. I’m very disappointed and unsatisfied with Cabo Azul and will never be giving them my business again. I would recommend you do the same.

We loved out second visit to Cabo Azul. I heard a gentleman wade into the poll saying "I just love this so much". We couldn't agree more. Thanks to Alan and Tomas our caring and friendly pool attendants, and Eduardo and Luis at the restaurant. They are all happy in their positons and seem to genuinely care for their guests - nothing inauthentic about these lovely gentlemen. The Hilton must be doing an outstanding job hiring the right people, onboarding them and retaining them. We saw an employee party in the beautiful chapel area one of the evenings we were there. We'll be back again soon!

This was our 9th trip to Cabo Azul. Both my husband and I agreed it has definitely gone downhill since Hilton took it over, We had problems with bathroom sink immediately upon arrival, ants in the kitchen the next day and the linen was terrible, For a supposedly high end resort I would not expect the sheets at a level you would get at Motel 8. The concierges were less than helpful. They seemed more interested in being on their cell phones than answering questions and helping people. Very unfriendly. We were trying to get reservations at Barrio del Tango and could not get through on our phone. The Concierge said he would try and get back to us.."crickets" The staff in the pool area remained exceptional in their service and friendliness. I would like to recognize Alberto, Maria and Tomas for their great service. Housekeeping remained excellent. As Gold members we had the usual meet and great and high pressure sales pitch to attend an update meeting for owners. Normally we would get our room number there and return there when our rooms were ready to get the keys. This year we were told to get our room keys from the front desk and ended up standing in line for 20 minutes to get them. (Prime check in time) I would definitely downgrade this resort from a 5 to a 3.5 star.

We stayed here last year and absolutely loved it! The resort is beautiful and everything felt reasonably priced at the time. Coming back this year, we were surprised by how much the food and drink prices have jumped. It honestly feels like at least a 30% increase. On our first day, we ordered two margaritas, guacamole and chips, and a smoothie… and the bill came out to $150 USD. That was a bit of a shock. I even looked up a menu from 2025 for the Starbucks/deli that is on property and the price increase is very noticeable. Because of that, we ended up eating across the street and heading into town for most of our meals. I can’t help but think this kind of pricing might push more guests to do the same over time. That said, the resort itself is still stunning, and the service was great. Big shoutout to Thomas, one of the pool attendants, he was fantastic and really made our stay more enjoyable.
