As a regular guest at the Ganzo I used to enjoy coming for weekends and spend my time at the roof top, Alex the waiter who was there 10 month ago was really great and had excellent attitude, unfortunately my last visit was very disappointing. The menu changed and they don’t offer any more hot food like fried rice and stuff… Anyways, I ordered fresh tuna tostadas and they were good, very spicy but good. The service was very poor. I had to call at least four times the waiters to have them serve me drinks, and I felt like I was bothering them. They seemed very busy counting money at the bar and chatting all afternoon . They could do a lot more up-selling by just being aware of the guest’s necessities. BTW I did not see one manager looking over or supervising the waiters… I wonder if to go back and give them another chance or just find another hotel to spend my weekends.

El Ganzo was phenomenal for us. Quiet location with excellent staff; from the steps of the hotel to the upstairs pool/bar, downstairs restaurant, room service and most especially check in/out desk - all were exceptional. Thank you for the great experience.

We were exhausted when we arrived and this was just perfect. A nice dinner and drinks and then a wonderful room. The infinity pool and views from the rooftop bar are incredible. The next morning we enjoyed beach drinks and food at the beach.

Loved it from the minute I walked into the hotel from the moment I left. Quiet hotel ideal for relaxing staff is super friendly, small enough to where they get to know you very fast. Food is excellent and they have their own herb/vegetable garden which chef uses. The rooms are small but all have ocean views clean great decoration. Art is everywhere in the hotel and makes you feel you are in an art gallery. Can't say enough good things I am definitely coming back!

EL Ganzo. In fact we did not check in for our 3 night stay. Our experience made me wonder how this hotel could have such positive ratings on Trip Advisor. We left and found a delightful alternative Casa Costa Azul, which made us feel “at home” not “like prisoners.” I’ll write a full review of our stay soon. When we arrived at the hotel El Ganzo we were told, they would not allow us to take food or liquids into the hotel. The bellmen began to remove items from our luggage, bottles of sparkling water, wine, even some of my wife’s medication that was liquid, from the luggage trolley as we were preparing to register. I told them to stop. The hotel manager, Ronald Cruz was rude and dismissive to me when I questioned why were not told this in advance, saying “You did not ask. This is true of most hotels.” Having travelled the world I mentioned we had never heard of such a policy before. I pointed out they were very clear on their website about “no children” so why not be clear about not allowing “food or beverage.” He said they would keep our items in their storage and we could retrieve them to eat “off hotel grounds.” There was nowhere nearby where this would work. Basically, they were confiscating over $100 of items that we could not take on the plane when we left and to me this was contrived thievery. Mr. Cruz made several nonsense remarks to defend his position, like “it is for your own health and safety” rather than telling the truth “We are forcing you to eat and drink in our bar and restaurant only, or drive a long way into the town of San Jose del Cabo.” Having “beach access” is also deceptive. We passed the dirt road to their beach club on the way to the hotel and it is a long ways away, perhaps ¾ of a mile. There are a few small restaurants nearby and a tiny convenience store, but be prepared to drive several miles to the “Artist District” or downtown San Jose Del Cabo if you need supplies. Their location on the harbor is quite distant from town requiring a long drive down a causeway. They do have music and art events on site, but claims about being adjacent to the art district in town, are not true. So please be informed: No food or beverages and a rude check in await you at El Ganzo, and as always pay attention to the one and three star reviews at any hotel you look at on TA. Unfortunately this time I didn't as there are others who shared my dismay.
