Hotel El Ganzo

I rarely feel moved enough to write a review for a property, but our recent stay at "the goose" was so exceptional and so far beyond what we expected that I have to break that silence. By now, my wife and I know this place. We were married here in May 2025 and just came back to celebrate our one year anniversary, but we've stayed two other times before that too. Across roughly two and a half years, we've watched this property develop, and man have they made the most of that time. The food is excellent now, across all three restaurants. I can say this honestly because it wasn't always the case. The food was outstanding at our wedding last year, but on earlier stays it could be inconsistent. That is completely gone. Every kitchen is dialed in: - At the pool: the fish tacos, the steak tacos, the smash burger, and if they're running them, the gaucho fries. - The main restaurant: eggs with machaca and the paradise fruit bowl for breakfast, the fish or the pork for dinner. - The beach bar: any taco. You seriously can't go wrong. The facilities have always been great but recent investment shows. Updated furniture and design throughout. The rooftop pool, with a view over the marina out to the sea will be your home base. There's live music on Fridays and Saturdays but a more mellow vibe any other day. The beach club (with a swimmable beach) are one of a kind in this part of Baja, and because the restaurant runs full bar and meal service you can post up on a covered beach chair for hours without ever needing to run back to your room. The rooms are modern, stylish, full of unique art, and totally comfortable. We like to work out daily when we travel and the gym has everything we need, plus there's an easy running path around the nearby marina just steps from the lobby. If you go off property (and you absolutely should) the food within a 5 to 10 minute drive is unique and seriously well done. Flora Farms for brunch. Acre and Ballena for dinner. Lupita in downtown San Jose del Cabo (a 5 minute drive) for the best tacos you'll have in your life. Marinero Boracho is a fantastic local favorite and sits a safe and easy 5 minute walk away, and Coffee Lab next door is great for artisanal coffees if that's your thing. Finally, and this made the biggest difference for us this trip, the staff at Ganzo are some of the most genuinely kind and hospitable people we've ever stayed with. We didn't contact anyone before arriving but the moment we showed up we were recognized and welcomed, and we felt cared for the entire stay. A few people I have to call out (and if the owner reads these reviews, please know these folks are all stars): - Manuel Padilla was the manager during our stay. Kind, professional, service-oriented, and incredibly prompt following up on anything we asked for. A true conductor who made sure our 5 days ran smoothly from start to finish. I wish we could take Manuel with us everywhere we travel. Easily the best manager we've had the privilege of working with anywhere, not just in San Jose del Cabo. - Alexandra and Beto at the front desk, thank you both for welcoming us in and taking such good care of us. - Alfonso and Montserrat at the pool, you two made it feel like we were partying with old friends. Thank you for the welcome, and Montserrat especially for recognizing us right away and taking such genuine interest. - - Andres (DJ De La Vega, @dlavvega on IG), the final shoutout is yours. Ganzo, please keep booking this guy. The vibes were off the charts and he was a ton of fun to get to know. El Ganzo, both my wife and I love you deeply, and we treasure the memories we've made with you over these last few years. Rest assured, we'll be back many times over. For anyone reading this, if you're new to San Jose del Cabo I can't recommend Ganzo highly enough. Use it as your base of operations and explore everything the area has to offer. Enjoy!

This was by far the worst money I have ever spent on a hotel. The service was terrible—they took more than 45 minutes to bring my food when I had only ordered two tacos. The staff was unhelpful and unable to resolve issues. The room had poor soundproofing, and I could hear everything. On top of that, the prices are completely disproportionate to the quality of the experience. I would never return, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.

We came to shoot a wedding here in el ganzo the experience was great apart from the great food and amazing experience we had a good experience with the staff. Missy was great in suggesting food and was always kind and polite. Beto was also great always smiling and helping. Overall a great experience we are from India and we loved the el ganzo experience.

We always say we should try new places but when a hotel is everything you could ask for, why bother. This is our go to relaxing vacation. It had been over a year since our last visit and everything was exactly as we remembered. From the friendliness of the staff, the high quality of the food, and the clean comfortable rooms. Everything is consistently great year after year. I don't know what it is about those beds but we always comment on how great we sleep. The menus were different than in the past, they seemed heavier and more complex. I would have liked to have some lighter options but we enjoyed the food otherwise. Bring back the mixed grill at the Beach Club! Can't wait to go back.

By far one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had this weekend. When you step up to the rooftop, it is like entering an oasis. There’s no doubt that some places don’t just change your scenery, they also change your perspective. Gustavo was a sweetheart and took such good care of me. There’s one thing I’m certain of: coming back asap.
